*Napoleonic* law is where the presumption is of guilt.
Justinian law is the US system, where the presumption is of innocence.

Plus, the Australian Embassy is offering their assistance to this evil man. The current corrupted government of Australia has no problem protecting pedophiles who assault children.

Why? What on earth would they say? They don’t background check entire families before allowing Swimmers into the program. They have no culpability so why would they comment?
The club could have said that it was deeply saddened to learn about the allegations and has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation. They could have also pointed out that the club has taken a number of steps to keeps its swimmers safe such as becoming safesport recognized, not letting parents or other spectators into practice facilities or locker rooms, etc.
Legally not a good idea.
So are they purposely trying to be cold and distant to protect themselves legally?
Anonymous wrote:This story reminds me soo much of the DCUM person who was posting about a sexual abuse situation with children that was reported to authorities but had not resulted in arrest. I believe her child was friends with the victim? And they she was complaining how other people were still friends with the family and going on group vacations with them and she was shocked they'd let their kids be near him. And should couldn't understand why they were shutting her out instead of disassociating with the perpetrator. I wonder if Mahoney was the person she was referring to.

(1) leave a child with another man (defendant) when someone EXPLICITLY told the mom and dad that this man is a pedophile abuser — did they not even ask their own children at that point??? — and how was this behavior “remaining vigilant”???;
(2) take a nap while leaving their child in a suspicious man’s custody, and then **bring gin** up (on a Saturday afternoon) to drink with defendant;
(3) allow him to return to a bedroom alone with the young girl even after coming back to his apartment from napping;
(4) let their daughter sit in another man’s lap!!!!;
(5) literally walk in on the child sitting on the man’s head and just WALK AWAY!!! WTF!!!!
This whole thing sounds like some type of orgy or throuple or affair while the kids are getting sexually abused. I hope they are doing fitness tests for the parents, who exercised remarkable negligence as well.
This mama heart is fully broken for these babies, and I can’t reconcile any of the decisions the parents made.
The victims (little children!!!) have a public YouTube account. What the hell is wrong with the parents? All of this is insane. Maybe there is a lot more going on here than reported in the charging documents. Those poor babies. I hope there is a GAL appointed.
It’s still up as of today. Yes, the mom knows and hasn’t taken the channel, showing her two little children, down. Disgusting.
Which children? The perpetrators kids or victims? Confused.
Victims

He also used to be a diplomat at the Australian Embassy. I wonder if the Australians and/or World Bank have been made aware of his arrest and charges?
That means he might be on a diplomatic visa and as a result, might not face consequences. My friend at the World Bank is on a diplomatic visa.
Please use some common sense or at least do a google search before posting. This is not a parking ticket. This man committed a serious crime and his “consequences” will be the same as they would be for any US Citizen. US law does not make exceptions that allow foreign nationals to abuse children on US soil.
PP you replied to. Sorry, you must not have experience in these matters. I have known serious cases where diplomats were sent to their home country and never had to face justice in the country of their victims.

What does ASA have to do with the alleged crimes of the individual parent involved? By putting ASA in the title, it seems like the OP wanted to smear ASA.
As an ASA parent, I can tell you that they are very strict about not allowing parents inside the practice facilities, and most definitely not in the locker/changing rooms. During meets at the same facility, all parents and coaches are required to use a separate bathroom that is monitored.
Can you stop jumping to the worst conclusion, you moron? All you need to do is look at the time stamps. This thread was created well before the WaPo article came out and it was publicly known who he was (diplomat, etc). The first connection that was reported by OP, who is an ASA parent presumably, is that the perp was also an ASA parent.
That's all. Every news comes from somewhere and it's rare to get the full picture when you get emergent news, as it was when the thread was first created.
Next time don't shoot the messenger, hmm?
Also, I noticed you jumped right into 3rd grade insults. Way to show maturity there. Grow up.

Anonymous wrote:The sad truth is that there are several communities that have been deeply shaken by this. ASA, MVP, the kids elementary school, the family’s apartment building. Possible others. The family has been here for 6 or 7 years and have been very social. So maybe this thread should be moved from swimming.
We are shaken because he came across like any other dad. He liked taking pictures but he was generous with sharing them around and took some really lovely pictures of the kids. He only had access to the kids because he gained the trust of the parents and parents did trust him. I wouldn’t call him a hero, as the parent in the article did, but he was friendly and jovial. His wife is warm and really lovely to talk to. I can’t thinking anything that came across in a casual, family setting that would have set him apart from other dads, aside from the photography.
Now, weren’t very close so I can’t speak to any of the grooming behaviors or warning signs that may have been missed by parents there. But at first sight, this was not a creepy man.
