That said, this time around when Trump won, my reaction was... "meh, whatever, we'll get through it." Not the outrage like I had in 2016. A part of me felt like the Democrats kind of deserved to lose, the DNC has been so cringe and awful in recent years, and though I personally lean left, I felt like the Dems had overreached on a bunch of woke stuff that most Americans don't care about. That, and a bunch of people I know who are immigrants and people of color had soured on the Democrats and had become Trump-curious for a variety of reasons, and I didn't want to be one of those whiny white liberals who thought she knew better than anyone else. On top of it all, Trump 1 wasn't as horrific as I thought he would be, he was mostly embarrassing and clownish, but the economy hummed along. His foreign policy was dumb but didn't cause outright disasters just yet. All in all, 2017-2019 weren't terrible years for the average American. So I didn't join any marches or protests or sew any pink hats or rant on social media. I figured, well, he's pushing 80, he's kind of nuts and also just lazy, maybe he'll spend his whole term just golfing and tweeting and nothing will happen.

I had no idea how wrong I would be. How horrible things would get and so quickly. It's so much worse than anyone ever expected. I am truly afraid. Everyone is worried for their lives and livelihoods. Everything is bad, everything is a mess, it's so obviously an authoritarian oligarchy and it is no longer crying wolf. It's absolutely unbelievable. I thought American democratic institutions were strong enough to withstand a madman and his cult, but apparently not.

Not across the board it’s not. You can’t just cite WH data, as it’s hyperbolic.

Also, why don’t you give Biden some credit for lowering violent crime in DC by 35% to the lowest level in 30 years. I suspect that trend might track nationwide and the felon wants to take credit for it.

An economy based on fraud and smoke and mirrors is not sustainable. You seem to be extremely naive about how most people get rich. A lot of it is criminal, paper pushing and games.

You sound like you aspire to be wealthy and worship mega-rich people as somehow superior. Mega rich people are often dirt bags who made their money by taking advantage of other people.

They don't have billions stacked in cash in vaults for you to confiscate. It's in the market and businesses employing people. You want their money? Businesses get dissolved. People get laid off.

Jesus, everyone owes everyone. You want to "fight" for teachers and public employees? Where the hell to you think their pensions and retirement funds are invested?

Ridiculous. Most people “with two brain cells” aren’t billionaires. They’re regular doctors, lawyers, business people, scientists, professors, and entrepreneurs that just AREN’T criminals and con artists. Most people who make THAT much money have done a lot of unethical and illegal things to get to that point. Very few created something special.

And what we DON’T need is more Saudi and Chinese ultra wealth coming here to buy up our land and housing to make life more expensive for the rest of us who earn our money by working here. No more ultra wealthy parasites.

They were not addressing the issue. Democrats were ignoring it right until it became an election issue.

They dropped the FBI Uniform Crime Statistics and went into full hiding mode and even telling us how wonderful their plans were.
