I don’t get the Cory Booker hype. He peaked at 3-5% support in 2020, WAY behind Biden, Sanders, Warren, Buttigieg, Bloomberg. He was down there with Yang and Klobuchar and Gillibrand. And he was younger, so his single status was less weird. In 2028, he’ll be pushing 60.

Cory Booker and other Dems plan to spend a few weeks in April speaking at town halls in Republican districts. It’s a great idea if they mostly listen. It could backfire if they mostly talk.

There are many different ways to date, express sexuality, love one another, and create alternative families. Having someone different in the white house would be a refreshing change.

Not every President has to have a wife and kids. That path is increasingly rare among younger folks and lower income folks. Being single could actually help make Cory more relatable to young people and the working class. And if he starts dating celebrities from the white house? Fuggeddaboutit. People would be happier and more politically engaged.

He seems goofy to me. I think he’s fools gold for our party. Booker is not someone who could have beaten Trump. We’re barking up the wrong tree with this guy. He feels like the next step on our failure path of choosing intersectional folks. Momala was at least married with stepkids.

He was on Colbert earlier this week, and I got the same feeling.

At the same time, based on the Colbert interview I was intrigued with that possibility. Don’t know anything about him as a politician, but as a speaker he is extremely impressive. Reminded me of the old-school politicians who spoke of deep thoughts instead of sound bites and talking points. I was genuinely moved by a few of the things he said and have been meaning to look it up on YouTube and give it a re-watch. (And I usually change channels when the interviews start on late-night shows, so for me to even watch the full interview the first time speaks to how well he caught my attention.)
