New Member Fees: $826.00 Out of House Dues: $650.00/Fall; $492.00/Spring
New Member Fees: $3153.00 Out of House Dues: $2903.00/Fall; $2655.00/Spring
As someone who has very little knowledge of greek life, what do the fees pay for? Especially, if DD is not living in the sorority house.
Thanks!

It’s pretty time consuming, it’s expensive, and most girls outgrow it before they graduate, but they have to continue to participate or else they’re fined (like for rush week). There can be pressure to drink and dress and behave in certain ways instead of being yourself.

Daughter got a bid to her first choice. It is not one of the "Big 3" and it is a perfect place for her. Quote from her, "I had so much fun rushing." I was worried because of some things I read here, but it can be a very positive experience. She's already super-involved in a few activities and I'm sure she will find ways to get very involved in her sorority. I hope others at UVA also had positive experiences, as the OP stated.

+1 to all of this. DD shared a few celebration videos on our family groupchat and is very excited (despite the weather). Congratulations to all the girls and best wishes to those starting rush now.Daughter got a bid to her first choice. It is not one of the "Big 3" and it is a perfect place for her.
