Did they hire Phil?

That would be a heck of a commute for him.

Tom Ugast drops a lot of bread crumbs in this interview from last year -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTNCJN6NBxg

Why does everyone think it’s Spencer? She just does what daddy wants- and if she *is* the one making decisions, that’s just crazy

Maybe the real issue here is Spencer!

Maybe Phil can come coach at NOVA!

Overuse injuries are preventable! S1 coach should improve her teaching methods. Prevention requires proper warm-up and recovery. Swimmers should alternate between free, back, breaststroke, and fly strokes. Adequate dryland training, smart nutrition, and sufficient rest and sleep are also crucial. Instead of blaming injured swimmers, Coach should take responsibility for failing to teach them the correct technique and not using a smart training progression. It’s shameful that this site prioritizes finding an Olympian who can endure the rigorous training, and if the swimmer survives S1, they will be handed over to BG.
Coach Phil uses smart training sets and shares them regularly with parents on team WhatsApp. He cares deeply for his swimmers success and well being. He is a rising star coach who couldn’t be tolerated by some of those old-school coaches at PREP and was cut out because he was NOT like them.

Please do not compare DH to BG. She is an amazing coach, probably my favorite as a swimmer. I heard she pushed harder in the past, but isn’t the problem right now. I think she’s trying to fix her mistakes. BG is still aiming for perfection from his swimmers, injuring them along the way. I only stay on the team because of friends, and it would be impossible to leave them. I also loved Phil and hate to see NCAP treating him like this, no way he’s coming back after that. I wish him luck at Bullis.

I found her bullying of the swimmers to be outward and ruthless. A threat based culture focused on avoiding punishment to please her. He is more of a shun/ignore/talk sh** about you to others and label you a slacker

Where will he most likely end up?

I don’t know the coach at MM that is referenced here, but nobody at Burke was sad when the current lead Gold 1 coach at MM left. I expected you guys to be referencing him in this thread.

They are not combining Silver 1. They got rid of him without a plan to replace him. I don’t know what they were thinking. Parents are already trying to figure out where he will land so they can follow.

So is this nova coach out immediately with no replacement? What is NCAP doing the last few days? Sounds like they are getting rid of some good coaches who will surely find other teams soon.

That is wild. Are they combining the Tyson’s Silver 1 with the MU Silver 1 so maybe the decision was they didn’t need both him and Kelly Rose? They are both excellent coaches, my kid at another site knows them from travel meets and really enjoys both of them.

Who's out there?

Their lead Silver 1 and Gold 2 coach with no actual plan to replace him. He is a gifted coach and well liked.

Did NCAP force him out or did he decide to leave? It would seems strange for him to get fired because he was the coach of all the super fast 14+ swimmers at MU when they were in MS, so there is a track record of success.
