What a disgrace.

It just takes time for players to learn union’s tactics. Very complicated. Next level.

I don't think it matters against Surf. They have good odds of winning it all. VA Union a big longshot darkhorse. Good opportunity for the girls to play top California teams. Question everyone at Seattle are asking in this age is who is better, Surf or MVLA? VA Union kids get to come home saying they played against both these teams.

Subbing system is a circus. Why were 2011 players allowed to go an play and suck up playing time when they didn't start on their own team, and when the 2010 team already had a full roster? Club politics at it's worst.
Awful.

Lol! Go ahead and blame a 10-0 loss on 2011 players that barely saw the field. This has got to be a VA Union 2010 parent.

Sounds like a departing VA Union parent…sad

Fair play to VA McLean Union. Their 2 best 2011s start looking at other clubs so they invite them to Seattle to lose 10-0.

I was told they are not the best 2011s on the team. Politics as usual. Both players just came back from injury and were not in any playing shape to go compete with the 2010s. The third 2011 player who also went almost did not make the 2011 team.

I know a lot of the 2010 parents were not happy these these girls went with the team but I also know some of the 2011 parents were also not happy when they heard these three were going.

Not aware one of the two is leaving. Do you know where they are going?

The Arlington coaches are inept.

As an Arlington parent, I can attest this is true. 2011G ECNL aside, the other teams are a hopeless case. The 2010s run around with zero clue as to what they're doing. The coach is completely guileless and incapable of making tactical adjustments.

Honestly, a huge club with thousands of players should be doing MUCH better.

The Union team that lost 10-0 are 2010 girls, do not even in high school yet, so still plenty of time to get recruited if that's what they want.

I won't even mention that the same union 2010 G team routinely wiped the pitch with the majority of other ECNL teams in their division, including all those mentioned here.

Why don’t you think about the fact that local teams are in the finals as a great thing. The fact that they’re u14 and u13 may mean a changing tide in the area, not “we can’t develop older players”. Show me an ECNL club in the area that HASN'T gone through major change of late. Maybe those changes are starting to play dividends and that is why the younger teams in the area are doing well.

Build. Don’t break.

Go Bethesda, Go Arlington.

Positive.

We need more positive messages about local kids teams.

Thank you for the above message.

Worst recruiting trip ever. They barely played. Union should be just as worried about 2010s who have only deposited at this point for FVU, they are looking at other options too

I don't know how you would think two of the best teams would play each other in the group stage? Did anyone watch the surf and va union game? The surf girls should have received yellow cards. They would just push the little union girls from the back and not get a card.

I watched the game and disagree. But for sure Union 2010 got the most unlucky draw playing #1 and #2 teams in the country. It shouldn’t have happened but parents can’t go blaming everyone. Model good character for your kids - sometimes life hands you lemons and you have to suck it up and deal with it. I bet the parents are more embarrassed than the kids - let them play, learn from it, and move on.

Let them play and learn from it.
I agree 100%

Parents have to let go and stop making it about themselves.

Posession footbal at its best. They possesed the ball each time they took it out of their own net, so lots of posession.

Union didn’t lose 10-0 because of a couple 11’s. They lost because they lacked the depth Surf has and probably their preparation was lackluster for a team this strong. They hung in there for the first half and when the subbing started the scoring did as well. Could it have been prevented? I think so, but ML doesn’t scream tactical genius or was too prideful to play defensive football. “McLean Style” at its finest.
