Maybe overpayments to landlords should be reined in?

Some hard trade offs are coming, especially if people do move due to crime and downtown stays hollowed out. To me, food trumps not only media vouchers but also bike lanes.

Wow. Nearly 20% of DC residents rely on food stamps. No wonder crime is out of control.

Plenty of poor people are NOT criminals, that is an offensive association.

The commercial real estate downturn still has not been fully felt. The projection is that when businesses' leases end they may up WFH flexibility again. DC has to be very pragmatic re: benefits, tradeoffs and future income projections.

I don't think another financial control board is completely out of the picture. There is so much waste, fraud and abuse in the DC government, finances are declining and city services are dysfunctional at best.

Biden had already targeted the housing voucher program for cuts on the federal side. It can only be helpful to individuals to help them get on their feet and function.

DC should free or subsidised units in voucher buildings to police officers in MPD and federal agency law enforcement officers who can help ensure that more voucher holders and their friends stay in line.

And teachers, daycare workers, firefighters, others who serve the people of DC and can’t afford to live near where they work.

lol - teachers and firefighters can certainly afford to rent in Chevy Chase. It's cheaper to rent there than downtown and neither are underpaid. Prior to all this voucher stuff, the apartment buildings along Connecticut were one of the better deals in the city. Daycare workers can't afford to live anywhere unfortunately and nothing being proposed will change that.

Does anyone know "how" to do this?

1. File a notice of intention to recall with the Board of Elections. This can be done 366 days after the elected official takes office (so I'm guessing that means Jan. 2, 2024, in the case of Frumin, Allen and Nadeau).

2. You have 180 days to collect signatures, and you need to collect them from at least 10 percent of the registered qualified voters of that ward. As of Oct. 31, Ward 3 had about 53,000 registered voters.

3. If the recall effort is certified by BOE, a recall election must be held within 114 days of certification.

This is what the DC GOP should be organizing to do.

I did not vote for Frumin, but he's correct when he says the future of the city is at stake with all the crime.

+1. These lobbying groups are so cynical, hypocritical and simply lack credibility. They will practically say anything and gaslight anyone to advance their developers' agenda.
