That was not until the late 1800s. shame on us for allowing that states rights @#$& for so long.
Sure. Then America would not exist. Constitution never would have been ratified.
What we know as America would probably be 4 or 5 countries today. Pretty sure Germany/Japan would have won WW2 if that were the case so the world may be better off or worse off depending on your perspective.

Are you paying attention to what is going on? Rights is this country are determined by what the court rules. One court rules one way and then the members of the court are changed and the rulings change.
The key to reproductive rights, to gun control, and other issues lies in getting the justices on the court that will rule to protect reproductive rights and assault weapons bans. This will be a long process.

I personally value kids lives and doctors lives and concert goers lives and grocery shoppers lives etc... over assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
Some bat crap crazy hobbyists shouldn't be holding the rest of us hostage.
Yup. Tyranny of bat sh1t crazy.
They banned guns in Europe, didn’t stop crazies from running over 80+ people with trucks
They banned guns in China, didn’t stop crazies from stabbing and killing dozens of people at a time
How are you this stupid? I’m serious.
We have a mass murder problem here that exceeds every other developed nation. By a lot. The key ingredient is … guns!
And when we get rid of the guns, as I’m sure you’ll eventually be successful in doing, what will you blame when mass murderers switch to trucks or fire, or improvised explosives?
I have no desire to ban guns, I would like reasonable regulations. I would like the culture of gun worshipers to recede. There are ways to do this that are absolutely constitutional. Let me guess—you’re against these things but want the court to overturn Roe?
Exactly. Rights are political, not absolute. If the conservatives engineer abortion to not be a constitutional right than progressives can engineer assault weapons to not be a constitutional right. It is the same process.
I’m the PP you’re responding to and no. The Court can’t simply take rights away. There is a constitnuonal right to abortion. It’s called liberty. But the courts can and should uphold reasonable regulations that infringe upon those rights for compelling need. That is the standard in Roe. That is the standard that applies to gun regulation. But yeah, Republicans want just want unfettered liberty to own guns, but not for women to access healthcare. They are sick.
