Landon and Gonzaga probably slightly down (given the graduation of their 24 classes)
SJC and Bullis probably slightly up (as the Bullis 25 class and the SJC 26 class gets a year older)
Prep (probably around the same).
So I’d go
1. Bullis
2. SJC
3. Prep
4. Gonzaga
5. Landon
But all five teams in the mix for best in the area. It will be interesting to see if Good Counsel or DeMatha can make a leap. [/quote
Pre-season 2025 Projections:
1. SJC: The Cadets are fairly young this year given the number of 2026 kids playing big minutes. Cadets are the best-coached team in the land.
2. Landon: The Bears have a very underrated 2025 class and are extremely well-coached. Look for several kids in their 2027 class to emerge next spring.
3. Bullis: They have the best 2025 class in the land but Bulldogs lack depth. The Bulldogs will go as far as Jackson Mahar can take them. If Bullis doesn't hire an OC for next season or expect another disappointing season on Falls Road.
4. Gonzaga: The Purple Eagles are always littered with athletes and have plenty of depth however they graduate an excellent 2024 class.
5. Prep: The Lil Hoyas will take a big step back next Spring as they graduate several key starters. Hoyas didn't have much depth this year and it showed. Their JV team was the worst it's been in decades. Expect the Hoyas to hit the transfer portal and bring in some boarders to plug in the holes.
DeMatha graduates a ton, not to mention they need to hire a new coach, yet again...
Good Counsel showed in the WCAC semi-finals they might have been all hype this year.
PVI should take a step forward under 2nd-year coach as the panthers were very young this season.
With its boarding capabilities, Episcopal could emerge as a potential dark horse in the IAC.
DeMatha’s only graduating 7 players and has a very strong 2025 class. Will depend on who they get as a coach.

Difference will be coaching and goalie play.

Landon’s OC, Mike Kubick, is a current Mater Dei teacher, a Prep alum, and who also cosched at Prep for 20 plus years under HOF coach Kevin Giblin. He is revered by the all of the older lax alums and is highly regarded as an excellent teacher at MD.
Landon’s Head JV lacrosse coach is also a Georgetown Prep lam alum, a current teacher at Landon. I have to admit, Landon’s JV was damn good this year and dominated most area teams. Prep’s JV which historically has always been strong, year in and year out, was embarrassing this year.
Why are these guys coaching at Landon, our biggest rival. As an alum, I’d want nothing to do with that school. This doesn’t make sense.
