That is a great common sense answer. Thanks.

And there are a lot of ways these teams can be ranked to suit a particular narrative.

All the listed teams are good soccer teams in the larger sense. Richmond has clear separation from the group and VDA has a little bit of separation. But Arlington, Bethesda, Union, FCV and Loudoun are all in pretty tight grouping. Then Metro is on the outside looking in with a pretty sharp drop off after them.

Bethesda has obviously improved. Union seems to be coming together and will have faced the top 3 teams in the conference in the first 5 games. VDA will be fine. Arlington is off to a good start but seem to be stalling a bit.

FCV will roll in GA but their competition is highly suspect and so their score lines should give strong reason for pause. FCV tends to struggle in more evenly matched competition outside of their league conference. FCV has yet to beat an opponent that is ranked higher than they are currently ranked. If you are a top ten team Nationally this isn't that big of deal but when you are ranked 73rd there are still lots of opportunities to play higher ranked teams with a reasonable chance to succeed.

This is the made up ranking that is pretty accurate as of this moment till some ecnl games are played this weekend.

It isn't that accurate considering the high ranking of FCV considering the weak strength of schedule they play in GA. Bethesda deserves to be higher than FCV based on strength of schedule and winning results against the highest strength of schedule. Loudoun is even with FCV and VA Union has performed well with their second highest strength of schedule among the four teams.

47.5 Average National Ranking for Bethesda opponent.
99 Average National Ranking for Arlington opponent
168.75 Average National Ranking for VA Union opponents
299.5 Average National Ranking for FCV opponent
301.5 Average National Ranking for Loudoun opponent

1. Richmond
2. Pipeline
3. VDA (Win over Bethesda, Loss to NC Courage and tie to Union)
4. Bethesda (Wins over Matchfit, Maryland United, and Loudoun, highest strength of schedule)
5. Arlington (Loss to Richmond, 2nd highest strength of schedule)
6. Loudoun (4-1 in ECNL Weakest strength of schedule)
7. Virginia Union (1-2-2 in ECNL play, Regulation win and tie against FCV, tie to Union as well as higher strength of schedule)
8. FCV (Win and Loss to Virginia Union 4th weakest strength of schedule and split results against Union)
9. Metro United (Loss to FCV, tie to Skyline)
10. Maryland United (Losses to VYS, Bethesda, and tie to FC Delco, lost to Pipeline 5-1)

Purpose of these rankings? How do they benefit your player? I get they benefit the club and maybe more kids tryout for those clubs on the top. How does this benefit your kid at this age?

Nothing more than comparative analysis.

How many new players did Bethesda get this year and how many did they drop because last year was a tough year for them competitively and now top 4? Most improved team in the DMV if this is the case

No, middle bottom, if not bottom. Middle of GA does not equal middle of ECNL. Sorry.

Didn't BRYC beat Metro 4-1 a few months ago? Why is Metro brought up into these discussions? Add BRYC to top 10 team teams in the area since they beat ranked 7 Metro

Was this a scrimmage? No such score appears on either teams Youth Soccer Rankings game log.

So because it was a scrimmage it shouldn't count?

Correct, scrimmages shouldn't count. Many times there are not 3 refs, if any, and bench players receive much more playing time. Teams that have backup goalie's also see playing time. Absolutely no reason scrimmages should mean anything just on that alone.

In that case Metro is definitely top 5 best 08 team in the area

God you are obtuse.

Gotta be a troll or just, well, if you don’t have anything nice to say…

No, trolling is suggesting that Metro should move up to 5th.

Their ranking is just fine as is. Doesn't need to be lower and hasn't earned to be higher either.

Did I miss something? Ranking is fine as is? What ranking? Where is Metro ranked? And by who? What games have they played?

You are obtuse.

The made up ranking that is currently being discussed. They are also ranked 7th in VA on Youth Soccer Rankings.

How did you get this far in the thread and miss all of it?
