Highly improbably. Unless the vaccines really don’t work, and there is ZERO evidence that they aren’t working better than hoped. People need to get a grip. And if we have virtual school again, go ahead and send the county after me because my child won’t be attending. We’re done. Home values are up, we will just sell and pay for private.

Teacher here. I agree. The only way I can see them reverting to virtual is if so many teachers are out due to illness they cannot run the schools. I do think any parent complaining about masks should stop if that means 5 days of normal school. The kids will be fine in masks.

There are exemptions in the law. Staffing is one of the exemptions. FCPS has publically said that they do not have enough bus drivers for the fall. Who knows if they have enough teachers?
Watch what happens in the south in their schools carefully over the next two weeks. I'm glad we are not going first.

Maybe, maybe not. As a teacher, I drove myself absolutely insane from March to December 2020 worries about this or that plan or possibility. Some of them came to pass, some didn’t, a whole lot of unknown was thrown at us and guess what - we somehow managed. By we I mean all of us- kids, teachers, teacher parents, and families. What I realized after December was NO AMOUNT of my prognosticating, guessing, anxiety, worry,affected the outcome of what happened. Not a bit of it. None of it was in my hands and it was making me miserable . All that happened, we got through it. We will again this year. I refuse to lose my peace worrying about unknowns and things out of my control. Just accept the year will be what it will be.
Speaking of post-December, you guys really did get through it with shining colors in spring. My two ES kids got four days in-person for an entire quarter+, and it ended up feeling like a normal school year to them.
Thank you. That was by far the best part of the school year. Despite what people want to think most of us have zero desire to ever return to distance or hybrid . We missed your kids and it was hell. We want to be with them safe as we can all be in a few weeks.

No I agree with you. I'm the PP and the teacher. This is the first summer in about 15 years that I haven't done some type of prep for the school year. Normally I'll look at pacing guides, create a high level plan together for the first couple weeks, buy some new supplies, etc, etc.
This year I'm doing nothing. Literally nothing. I just have the sinking feeling that anything I worked towards will be a waste of time when I return to school.

So calm down. The vaccines are working and our public health situation is good. I have been very cautious with COVID. But I can also do a risk-benefit analysis. And the risk in Fairfax co. Is very low.
The risk in Fairfax could change. Quickly. We only have about 55% of our population that is fully vaccinated.
Yup. Most people don't realize how low we actually are in Fairfax County. Most well-educated residents (ie DCUM readers) are vaccinated, but it the low income population that is driving the outbreaks.
In Florida, 47.8% of the total population has been fully vaccinated. 48% is not all that much lower than 55%
