The first two are far from blow-outs. The third game MadLax struggled in the 2nd quarter, but got their footing in the second half.

Madlax has never guaranteed a spot on a team for the entire year. Madlax has tryouts and re-rosters teams before every fall, spring, and summer season. Families who want the certainty of a guaranteed spot for an entire year go elsewhere.

It's a fair question to ask how parents feel about kids arriving unannounced for a tourney while their kids has been practicing with the team all year. If it's like the way you've explained how is it the owner goes after kids who leave? Madlax wants a guaranty of getting paid the rest of the year without the same consideration of what parents are paying for.

Congrats to the Hawks kids. The 2028 team is a great team and it was a well deserved HOCO Championship.

You were there. You know Hawks dominated both games. Neither outcome was in doubt after halftime. Unlike Madlax, Hawks plays every kid to help them develop. In both games, Madlax scored a few late goals after Hawks emptied the bench. Same thing in the final. What was it at half: 10-3? Not much of a contest. But again, if you're focused on numbers: 0. ZERO. Zippy. That is how many HoCo divisions Madlax won. Good for the 28s for at least advancing to the final. But what about all the other teams that are supposedly ranked "#1"? How can you be a top team in the country when you're not even in the top 2 or 3 in a 6 or 8 team division?

It was actually 7-12 in the championship game.

VLC 2025 has an excellent FOGO and two great goalies, but the team’s overall performance is lackluster, which shows you need more than just that “secret sauce” to make a winning team.

Hawks schemes are very good and they teach a style of lacrosse that wins youth games. Dominate time of possession through taking care of the ball on offense, dominant EMO, and a zone like defense. The real secret sauce though is they seem to find an elite goalie in every age group and a very strong FOGO. Very tough to beat by the style Madlax, NL, and BLC teams play. Playing against Hawks is like playing against a youth version of the pre shot clock Terps teams in terms of style. Surprised more teams don’t try something similar, but you need a strong goalie and FOGO for it to work.

It's not about having the "stones to try." It's about Madlax needing a network of ringers from other states to come in for summer tournaments and play while the VA kids ride the bench. Good for you if that's your thing. I guess as long as little Jimmy gets a tourney t-shirt and a chance to cheer on the kids from NC, GA, and TX, that is something. HoCo identifies the stronger teams in the area. That is Hawks (3 finalists, 3 champions); Next Level (4 finalists, 0 champions); BLC/DCE (1 finalist, 1 champion); and Madlax (1 finalist, 0 champions). In the past, Madlax used to be a lot more competitive across every age group. They still have some good teams, but the talent level has dipped and the results speak for themselves.
