VDA is the only club with a strong teams after the DA formation. They seem to be doing fine. Mclean and BRYC younger teams are pretty weak and there is no influx from surrounding clubs. Hell there is a steady stream of girls leaving Mclean first team to lower teams at other clubs. That should scare the sh@t out of the club. McLeans is a mess and all the surround clubs know this. Loudoun should be okay but they do not depend on other clubs likes Mclean and BRYC.
These thing change. Clubs rise and fall. The only thing that matters is your kids team and coach not the club.
Is a club evaluated by its younger teams which are developing or by its older teams with college placement records?
+1 by the way a club like McLean can strategically plan not to make the finals at early ages, not because a team is weak but because cares for development of all players. When players turn 16/17 their goal will be different. That is a fact not speculation as many of the posts in this forum.
A club like McLean actually does a great job recruiting at 16/17. If your DD is on a McLean U13 team she likely won’t be on the McLean U19 team.
Kids don’t move in mass at U16/17.
You should listen to what’s being said. If you have been around travel soccer, you would know kids do move “in mass” at any age. The only thing that matters is how it effects your kid. This love of a club culture is so stupid.
Kids just don't move at that age. The last real window to move is about U15-U16. This provides a player enough time to establish a role with the team and enough time for the new club coach to speak on her behalf to college coaches. If by U16/17 you still can't find a club that sounds like a you problem.

McLean’s older ECNL teams roster girls from all over the region, the younger teams are mostly kids in or near McLean. The older teams, 03 and up were formed before DA and the expansion of ECNL teams in the region. Starting with the 04 age group, the number of competitive NOVA girls teams in the region went from 3 to 7. Unless one of the local clubs can do some serious recruiting, it is unlikely that any one club will look at all like the McLeans and FCVs of the past. I would start looking at clubs 04 and 05 teams now to see which club is going to become the new queen of the hill.

This would be sound thinking if most of the girls who were on ECNL from beginning were there at 16/17. This is not the case at this club.
