Sorry that campus is HIDEOUS. The only thing it has going for it is the Pacific. Otherwise, the buildings look circa 1960 Soviet Union.

I love UCSD but people who expect college campuses to look like Yale or Oxford might not get it. The architecture is very modern and is intended to complement and highlight the natural beauty of the setting but is not classical. I like it but it is not to everyone's tastes. That's why Pepperdine tends to get high marks -- it has classical architecture in a gorgeous California setting. A crowd pleaser.

Granted I am very biased since I am originally from the area, but I absolutely love the Northwestern campus. Very charming.
