I still love the fluidity of the story lines woven back and forth in time, and it worked particularly well in last night's episode.
In the preview for next week, was there a mention of Miguel's kids? Have we seen them before?

What a crazy time, I feel so sheltered.
last thing, I enjoy seeing the luxe life Kevin has... fancy, plush car service in Vietnam, amazing hotels, constantly bringing his GF little thoughtful gifts. Adult Kevin is an amazing actor. It's funny how he relates to his fan "yep, it's me."

Also liked the Bec/Jack road trip. Mandy Moore has such a glow. I find myself feeling sadder and sadder about Jack’s death this season as they fill in their dating backstory.
I really loved this episode. I think TIU is at its best when it is showing how day-to-day life shapes people and their relationships. Even in the most awful time, and as messed up as he was, Nicky visibly let Jack in. Zoe is the best - not pathetic but strong and realistic. Rebecca taking the sting of the "Pittsburgh good" and turning it into resolve to move her relationship forward with Jack. It was a quiet episode in that way.
Agree completely. Pages and pages ago, reacting to the house fire episode, I wrote how I was most moved by watching Jack quietly cleaning up the kitchen after their Super Bowl celebration. Those little moments of caretaking are so much more powerful than the “super dad” stunts, which can feel manipulative.

Kevin has become the most likable character on the show, which is saying something given all the ways someone in his position could be insufferable.
I also want more Miguel. He’s been so great and interesting in the bits we’ve seen of him.
yes! Bringing them a piano, letting Kevin sleep off the drinks after prom, fixing the fridge... and telling Jack he'd always take care of them. I can't imagine how torn Rebecca must have been going into that relationship.

Anonymous wrote:The only time my Dad really spoke about Vietnam was when we were at Udvar Hazy and my Dad walked up to a Huey helicopter on display. His face changed, and you could see him going back in time. He proceeded to tell us where he sat (he was a gunner), the other men with him, and the smell of death. I will never forget it.

They mentioned that Jack could have gotten out of going to Vietnam because of a heart issue but the dr wrote a note or whatever that he was ok. He ultimately died because the damage to his lungs from the fire caused his heart to give out. Will they ever make more of his heart issues? Or are they just planting that because his personality was so "full of heart" - ironic because in actually he had a bad heart?
