From a college placement perspective Prep is very well known and very established with Ivies and other top schools - but this is already long established (see many other threads) so let's please go back to lax here

GP is the oldest Jesuit school in the nation. Its reputation is pretty strong nationally and denying that shows your own ignorance (or young age).

People choose Prep not only because of lacrosse but because of its academic reputation, college placement (for its entire student body—not just athletes) and “brand recognition” as one of the country’s elite schools. NOBODY chooses Bullis for those reasons. Some may choose Gonzaga or Landon or Saint Albans over Prep, but not Bullis. Along the same vein, I have not heard of a single kid going to O’Connell over Prep just to play for Kevin Giblin (sorry Kevin).

OP here-I will contend that all of the IAC coaches resemble this remark, as well as several in the WCAC. Furthermore, some of these coaches recommend their players for the "closed" showcases held at the top lacrosse playing colleges.

Agree with this, but wonder if that will change now that the recruiting rules have changed?

I still find it crazy that a storied league like the IAC can be so beholden to Club lacrosse. While I understand that the club ship has sailed and the need for high level, year round lacrosse is the norm, I have to believe that the HS coaches have the last word with any collegiate coach. Clubs give some exposure, but you can't tell me that a Trippi or Epstein require a club to get them to the next level. Yes, I know they are elite players, but the bulk of the IAC starters will make a collegiate level team and I don't see a club team making a difference either way. So my big question is who cares about Mad Lax, DCE, etc? I feel that the parents have created these monsters and the parents can just as easily tear them down (with their wallets).

Just facts. Kids don’t follow club coaches / especially when those coaches don’t even coach them at the club.

I know who the kid is and he was the high scorer as a freshman at STA for much of the year without playing on the man-up offense. Not worth debating who was the "best" player on that team, and some very good players were on the bench, like the recent grad who did well for Yale this season as a freshman goalkeeper. He was behind Dartmouth and Lehigh recruits at goal. The kid was by far the strongest they had in his class and was not a second line player in any game. True that his soccer was outstanding as well. I thought he ended his IAC play as a four time all IAC in soccer and a three time all IAC in lacrosse. STA was either winning the IAC or runner up back in those years in soccer. Basement in lacrosse. The last-place team might get two all IAC selections and they usually go to seniors who have stuck with the coach...

In any event, STA's FOGO will keep them competitive this coming season, and their new coach has helped out the program quite a bit. I do not think they can get into a spot above fourth place with any regularity going forward for the foreseeable future though.
