Why would the baby be darker?

The same as any other fiction - entertainment
Entertainment? For whom? In the #metoo era? Or the Trump era? Like for real? And Elizabeth Moss is a big proponent of Scientology - why would anyone support that? I'm not being facetious either and would like a genuine response from the people who like this show.
The original book came out in the ‘80s, and has been a hit for the last 30 years. Many people who watch the show (including me) enjoyed the book, and are excited to see an adaptation.

32. Not in her 20s, but not past 35 and the dreaded AMA.
What happens to handmaids when they get older? What do they do in "retirement"? What happens to babies born with disabilities? There's so much I want to know about Gilead.
In the book, it was clear that babies with obvious disabilities were killed. I think “retirement” for hand maids is the colonies, although maybe if there was a really great handmaid they would turn her into an aunt or a Martha.
I would think they would become Martha’s or the really devout would become Aunts.
