Those are average scores especially for an FCPS classroom. Many children in general ed are much brighter.

STOP - YOU TROLL. The average FCPS student hasn't taken the WISC and the brightest kids.... they come to the surface after 3rd grade.

You don't think most FCPS kids have IQs in the low 100s? Average is 90-110 range. If they tested every kid, pp's kid would be smack in the middle.

Anonymous wrote:Curious about how the appeals committee looks as WISC V scores. Plan to appeal an AAP rejection with the WISC, with a borderline FSIQ and variable subscores

FSIQ -- 129 (97th%)
VCI -- 136 (99th)
VSI -- 129 (97th)
FRI -- 118 (88th)
WMI -- 127 (96th)
PSI -- 108 (70th)

GBRS is 11, NNAT was 94%, CoGAT was surprisingly low (in the mid-80 to low-90 percentiles).

I feel like it could go either way -- appreciate any insight.

These are strong scores and from my perspective- WISC trumps NNAT and Cogat (these scores are good and won't tank your chances)

FSIQ :139, 99.5%
GAI : 144, 99.8%
VCI : 146, 99.9%
VSI : 132, 98%
FRI : 137, 99%
WMI : 112, 79%
PSI : 108, 70%

Because he has low score on NNAT and Cogat, both are 123 and low GBRS, which is 8.

123 isn't low. I think these PHENOMENAL WISC scores will overcome the low GBRS - put additional parental commentary to bolster GBRS areas the teacher didn't see or cite.

That's a very brilliant score. Your DC will get into AAP

Thanks! Wish him luck!

Agree it could go either way. I think a 130 is a solid shot. You're just under that. Fair chance...good luck!

Thanks! I'm struggling with the letter because I'm sensitive to sounding critical of his base school teachers, who mean well but just don't have the resources to do extensions. DS is a curious kid and fast learner and has been just plain bored since starting FCPS in 1st grade.

She has perfect 4s and few 3s in academic.
Not sure why AAP coordinator screwed up her GBRS.
What kind of info can i put in appeal packet? like her small essays, etc?
I feel that she is very less challenged in her school and all am trying to do is get that factor increased as her WICS Doctor also suggested her memory is very good and she can remember a lot as per result.
Request group advise here please. may be am over optimistic and i might have to just take it easy and send her to normal classes.
also her school has local AAP, not sure she will get in?

Please advise

An appeal is not likely to be successful.

My DS -- whom we did not try to get into AAP -- had similar scores. His were possibly depressed because of untreated ADHD. He is currently in advanced math and gen ed for the rest of the subjects, and I think that is right for him.

4s and 3s on the report card are meaningless.

The AAP coordinator did not "screw up her GBRS" with a 7. A 7 score fits with the WISC score you've posted. I imagine the NNAT/COGAT scores were similar. This is an average FCPS kid.
