It's entertaining watching the haters squirm (for me personally).
Who hates whom?
The low key white supremacist who make racially-tinged comments about the entire Obama family.

Surprise, surprise, surprise! And you think it's because she's setting the world on fire academically? I doubt she's in the top rung of Sidwell students. But her dad is the president.
Anonymous wrote:I initial thought on her taking a gap year was that (for security & other reasons) they wanted to whole first daughter frenzy to die down a bit before she went off on her own, since he only has a few months left in office. I actually thought it was a pretty smart idea.

Anonymous wrote:The response to Malia going to Harvard isn't shocking but definitely shows the underbelly of America. There is at least 2 other girls from Sidwell (one other is also Af-Am) going to Harvard in the fall. It's not unusual for at least one or two Sidwell graduates to attend this college. Malia shouldn't be singled out and her hard work and achievements mocked.
I'm pretty sure nobody in my graduating class went to HPY. The valedictorian went to University of Miami on a full scholarship for pre-med and the salutatorian went to Duke University.

Count on it that there would NOT be over 20 pages on this matter if Malia were white.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I could be wrong, but is an acceptance on condition of a gap year a typical admission given to developmental cases?

Ummm no not at all. Check their website, it's encouraged for any high school senior.
People are so anxious to discredit this girl.
And I wish lazy people would do a little research before posting. There are numerous internet articles on the advantages of gap years and what colleges recommend and what some offer in the interim for gap students.
Welcome to Trump's America.

The Obamas are used to this and will press on. I'm happy that she can delay the leaving home moment and enjoy the time with her family. It just kills me that people have such hatred for such a gracious and hardworking family.
Hardworking, yes. Gracious, I don't see it, they have made racial relations worse than they have ever been -- even my Latino and Asian friends talk about our "Deporter-in-Chief" in very surprising terms.
This can't be real.Yes, the Obamas, a black family made racial relations worse. Yup, worse they they have ever been. Worse than when black people were treated as property and not humans. Yup! The Obamas did that.
Yep, it can't be real that a black President with a community organizer background and an immigrant father has deported more people and broken more families than any other President in modern history....but, black or not, that's exactly what he has done, and his main legacy in the minds of millions of (perfectly legal, thank you) immigrants.
My folks weren't here 200 years ago so I can't compare then with now, but I can say that many non-black minorities see racial relations now the worse they have been in several decades, and President Obama has played a significant role in it.

I totally agree with this but am having a hard time getting worked up in the slightest about it. So POTUS's kid got into Harvard, good for her, of course she did. Just like there was never any way King Abdullah of Jordan's kids were getting rejected from Georgetown. Extremely powerful people paying full freight who also happen to be legacies, with offspring from strong private high schools? Yup. That's that. You could not pay me all the money in the mint to do Obama's job--if his kid getting a slot at Harvard is one of the perks, then have at it.
(Arguably, Crown Prince Hussein should have been let in even if he was massively academically unqualified, which he apparently isn't--what's the point of having a School of Foreign Service if you aren't going to use it to try to somewhat educate a teenager who will one day sit on the not-at-all-ceremonial throne of a key regional ally? There could hardly be a more important mission for the school)
