The green beret has come out with a statement. This is not going away.

I wonder if these articles were carried in local newspapers and on local stations throughout the USA. Areas where people join the army. If you needed a Green Beret to bring the issue to the forefront for you then you aren't paying attention and are woefully uninformed about the countries we are occupying. Are you outraged that Afghan poppy has a direct tie to the heroin epidemic in the US? Who is responsible for allowing this to literally reblossom? What do we do about it as a nation?

My understanding it is a status thing there, as well as that women are so hidden , shuttered away and feared (kind of like Victorian England). I doubt the practice would translate much here in our far more open society. However, we should not look the other way from the generals and pops there stuffing American dollars in their underpants and the police partners raping boys on base. This green beret should get a medal for bringing the issue to a forefront. The military will have to develop a written policy , one where action is taken when these crimes are reported so soldiers dont have to revert to coming up with their own ways to intercede and do the right thing. This issue is not going away and from the president, to carter to the command of these areas of the work you bet they are scrambling to figure this out. Brava to the green beret!

If it's happening on American bases I would surely hope so!

What about the practice of publicly stoning adulterers to death, which had been put to a stop by the Taliban, but is once again legal under Afghan laws? What about the practice of imprisoning women who flee to escape domestic violence or an illegal forced marriage?

Yes because no one in the military has ever been punished for rape or sexual harrassment. Because an entire generation if air force didn't see their careers end for just being at tailhook.

Yes that's what I'm.alluding to..including men on men..i have no trouble talking about clergy, military or campus rape problems. Why does it not bother you when it happens to children in Afghanistan or in camps of immigrants in Europe?
