So irritating the way Tyler always talks about Cate's issues as if he is perfect. A few seasons ago he wouldn't marry her until she got HER issues straighted out - meaning weight. And now - how many times did he have to say we need your mental issues sorted out. He may as well have said - haha you have anxiety.

And to say nothing about the whole - I don't want to be married to no heifer comment. His mom didn't even react or correct that - just acted like it was fine. Also loved her view that Cate has no ambition and never had it. Uh yeah mom - so when's you son graduating med school?

The only one? There's an entire Facebook group dedicated to this subject (Dear MTV Please Care About Car Seats, which changed its name to something else, but I forget what... Car Seats for Littles or something). And it's been mentioned in this thread a bunch. They don't stop Leah from driving high... why would they step in and adjust car seat straps? Also a lot of the car footage is mounted Go Pro cameras. They have other things to worry about, I guess.

You'd think that at some point MTV would step in and do something about the not only unsafe, but also sometimes illegal things going on in these people's cars... Or is this just another scripted setup to showcase how not suited these people are for parenting?

I really wish Amber would get rid of that loser who is mooching off of her MTV money. He has tons of kids he owes child support to.

Oh, DEFINITELY. And it sure doesn't help that the show prompted them to bring Carly up all the damn time since that was their only storyline for so long, until they had the replacement baby.

Replacement baby is not a cure, You cannot skip the grieving, you got to go thru it.
I think saddest thing is that neither did get themselves educated. Tyler blew every opportunity to study, ended up as a loser like his dad. Caitlyn was into studying social work, but did not finish.

It's actually very common for moms who place to go on and have another child shortly thereafter. I wasn't surprised when this happened.

I do think after watching the show and watching both their families that yes, adoption was still really the best choice. Tyler and Caitlyn didn't have the adult support they would have needed to raise a baby and they couldn't do it themselves either.

Adoption agencies provide pretty poor personal counseling. I think they both could have benefited some real counseling. It probably would have been for the best had they ended their relationship and went their separate ways. They were both stuck in the same place and seem to cling to the relationship out of fear of not knowing what else to do. It is a shame that neither were able to get much further education wise. If they stay together, they should consider physically moving away and cutting ties for a while their family. They need to settle into their own grown up life on their own now.

Why would you expect better choices from them? They have ZERO role models for being functional adults. Tyler's mom is somewhat stable now, but was a drug addict when Tyler was growing up. I'd be surprised if Catelynn wasn't molested by someone, knowing what an easy target she must have been.

C&T are not good for each other, in terms of promoting individual growth (education, career), but for most of their lives, they've been each other's only consistent relationship. I don't like Tyler, and think that Catelynn would eventually be able to make something of herself without him. She showed interest in being an adoption counselor at one point, or could even make a living as a motivational speaker sharing her life experience. But every college plan they had involved BOTH of them--nobody doing their own thing. Remember when they delayed enrollment because they wanted to make sure they got into the right "social working" field?

The both of them have definitely been making money as "motivational speakers." Bethany Christian Services, the adoption agency which placed Carly, had them on the payroll for a while. It's too bad that they never actually got counseling to help them move on.
