Gunnar is not trying too hard if one is just passing on a Scandinavian family name....

Aren't half the golden retrievers in DC named Max?

...and the other half of new baby boys named Max?

AWESOME! 27 pages and only one hater for both me and DD's name. DH's name was not even mentioned. I think we're loved all around the world! 8)

That's a pretty common name in France, though I've only ever known men with it. And no, it's not like the lettuce, which is spelled Romaine.

Honestly I have no idea how she spelled it.

She was an African American from the inner city projects. I'm fairly certain that it wasn't a name choosen because she had a French uncle namesake.....more likely just creative parents that liked the sound of it.

I dislike the name Mary. I have two friends that named their baby girls this.

Woohoo! It took 27 pages, but somebody finally hates one of my kids' names.

I'm not sure why it would bother anyone. We had good reasons for the names we chose (honoring family members), but everyone picks their children's names for different reasons, and people's taste differs. I may love a name, but there's no reason that anyone else needs to feel the same.

I nouns/titles/adjectives used as names. Haze, Duke, Princess (ugh), Hope, Fern, Price, Wealthy, Mayor, Rich (double ugh), Honor and anything along those lines. Sounds ridiculous. Names ending in -iah and -aden are also nails on chalkboard. I wouldn't name my kid s popular name, but I'd rather a popular one than one of the ones I mentioned. There is a girl in my son's class named Milky. I mean c'mon people!

I just named my baby Alexa. And my older child calls her Lexi. I think it's cute.

Anonymous wrote:I always liked the name Mallory...until I researched it and found out it meant "bad omen".

I have heard of 2 people naming their children this. Do people even care what the name means?

My friend picked that name for her baby and she miscarried at ~16 wks. I know the name was not the cause, but I would never give my child a name with a bad meaning.

Totally agree on the "stripper" names: Brandy/Brandi, Tiffany, Amber, Starr, etc. Also all the names with Ys or EIGHs instead of the traditional vowels: Ashleigh, Lauryn. Guess that makes me old-fashioned.
