I mean there's no news bc nothing is happening - there was another vote today on the same CR, it failed. Supposedly some bipartisan type talks happening but amongst lower ranked senators - not leadership.
It will be interesting to see whether Johnson will be willing to push whatever deal is reached through the house.

So the Republicans are voting against the continuing resolution?
Huh - there's the GOP clean CR - Dems (save for 3 of them) are voting against that one. That's the one being voted on over and over daily. There's a Dem bill also that lays out what Dems want w ACA - GOP is voting against that one, but that one doesn't get voted on daily.
Both bills have been voted on 7 times. That means there has been a vote on 6 out of the 7 "business" days of the shutdown, which is pretty close to daily.

Republicans lack the votes to pass the CR under current rules, and have declined to change the rules such that they could pass it with the votes they have. When you don't have the votes, you get to negotiate something more people can support.

I have to show up to work and I’m not allowed to work on anything.

Pp here. I’m working without getting paid and can’t earn overtime. I’m teleworking. I did take a sick day (for a previously scheduled procedure) and now don’t have to lose the sick time. I had planned a sick day the following day too; but worked a few hours. Otherwise it’s been 6-8 hr days. Yesterday I realized was closer to 9. I’m hoping I can keep tomorrow a bit shorter, and we’re not working Monday (holiday).

I think they'll come to some deal next week, though the actual vote might not get done by the end of that week. There's no news because of other global events.

This opinion piece isn’t about pronouns in email signatures. I’ve never put my pronouns in my email signature and it was never an issue. I’ve never heard any complaints about pronouns and email signatures until Trump issued a mandate about email signatures.

I guess concerns about free speech stopped in January.
My agency pressured employees to include their pronouns in email signatures. I included my pronouns because I was afraid about the potential consequences for not complying. We were also required to use gender neutral language and attend countless trainings to “educate” us about gender, equity, and other woke concepts. I complied, but I took a stand at the ballot box and voted for Trump. While I’m not entirely fond of Trump’s policies, I prefer him over the alternative.
What on earth? I’m at one of the most “lefty” agencies and we had nothing like this. Some people did it on their own but most didn’t. I wish it was standard because I deal with so many international names that I have no basis to know what gender they are.

That link is way off topic. But here's an anecdote: I am a woo-woo lefty with family members who use non-standard pronouns and I have never put my pronouns in my email signature. Not once, not with any employer. My agency issued a standard template with space for that, and I simply removed the line for pronouns. No one said a thing. I have been promoted a couple times since then. It's fine.
Imagine throwing a complete tantrum over "forced speech" instead of simply not doing the thing you didn't want to do.
Ditto by god son is he/they. I never changed my signature line. My work did not care or say anything. But now if I were to put pronouns in my signature line I would be fired.
It's the old game of blaming them for what you do .
