Oh the horror!

You don’t care about small businesses being affected by tariffs?

I care more about how illegal immigrants have placed such a drain on our economy.

We know. You keep telling us every minute. Do you have any other concerns or interests in life?

The PP has no idea what she is talking about. (She's probably posting from Russia.)

Immigrants pay taxes. They take jobs that Americans won't take. They add so much money TO our economy.

The right-wing oligarchy is spreading this smear campaign of lies about immigrants draining our economy to hide the fact that the oligarchy is the actual drain on our economy!! They are stealing us blind right beneath our noses.

The immigrants are keeping our economy going.

The right-wing won't deport a fraction of the number they claim they will because to do so will crash the US economy.

Those deportations won't happen, except to a few hundred thousand poor undocumented souls, most of whom will keep trying until they get into the US.

And when they get here, they will find jobs because America needs workers.

Illegal immigrants are not paying taxes. Get it through your head.

They pay way more than the Trump family

Undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022. Most of that amount, $59.4 billion, was paid to the federal government while the remaining $37.3 billion was paid to state and local governments.

And cost over 150 billion.

That's a net drain.

What would everything else cost if they were all gone?

More and Americans would get paid more.

Don't exploit other people. We ended slavery 150 years ago.

Of course! We completely agree. Now why hasn’t this happened between 2017 and 2019?

Here’s the issue. As an employer I’m not allowed to question documents even if I suspect they’re false. I’m also not allowed to not hire someone based on those suspicions. You can’t make an example of me simply because my defense would be "how was I supposed to know". You can’t sue a business for questioning documents and blame them for not questioning them at the same time.

You can use e-verify.

You are correct, and guess what? I still must hire them and let them work while they "resolve the mismatch".

Try again.

Why do you HAVE to hire them? What will happen to you?

I’ll get sued and lose. Don’t believe me? Look here. https://www.justice.gov/crt/immigrant-and-employee-rights-section

Once again, the ILLEGAL immigrant who is afraid of his own shadow will absolutely file a discrimination suit. Sorry, sell your bs elsewhere

How much in taxes?

How much is recouped vs expenditures for them plus children?

How many dollars are sent overseas?

How much housing would be available if they were removed?

How much would you house cost if it was built by Americans? You love the cheap shit cheap labor affords you. Hypocrite

No I'm happy to pay more for American labor.

Wanting cheap stuff ruins American jobs. I want a strong American labor.

I don't want to reward exploitative labor practices.i have no idea why Democrats would support that.

Sounds like you value union jobs then! Good for you.

This is an interesting development. Colombia said they wouldn’t take back their own citizens so Trump is enacting tariffs and other measures.

Personally, I think this is a great move. It is the responsibility of the host nation to repatriate their citizens. I do not understand why Colombia won’t welcome their own people back.

They don’t have any issues taking their migrants back. They are demanding they are returned on civilian flights like humans.

To me, that’s a fair ask.

Something to consider if you care about consumer prices...

Colombias gas exports have been decreasing yearly due to a host of issues. That’s while US shale is increasing, and hopefully increasing faster with a new regulatory environment.

Africa makes great coffee and I’ll gladly pay $3 a pound more to remove illegal migrants from our country.

Let me guess: You live in, what, Ohio? Do you know a single undocumented immigrant? Have you ever met an immigrant from Columbia? Would you know what an immigrant from Columbia looked like? Would you know anything about that immigrant, that is, if you know any immigrants?

Your ignorance = cruelty.

Get out and meet some undocumented immigrants. Talk to them. Find out what they have endured in their lives.

Now, compare their experiences (grinding poverty, violence unimaginable to you or to anyone you know) to your cushy, comfortable, safe life.

Once you've done that, please get back to me.

+100

Not the PP, but before you go on a rant, you should learn how to properly spell Colombia.

What about e-verify? And I’m talking about big businesses that look the other way.

Already answered, I must hire them while they "work out a mismatch"

Ironically, the illegal immigrants are not actually a drain on our economy. They work jobs that native born Americans won't do and they don't collect what they pay into the system in the form of payroll and sales taxes. They work harder because they are more desperate.

According to most economic research, the net economic impact of illegal immigrants on the US economy is generally considered to be positive, as they contribute to the economy by paying taxes, filling labor gaps in certain sectors, and boosting consumer spending, although the exact impact is debated and can vary depending on factors like the specific demographics of the immigrant population and regional economic conditions; however, some argue that the costs associated with social services and potential wage depression for low-skilled workers can partially offset these positive effects.

Well then; it’s been “studied” to find the conclusion wanted. So let’s just not even have citizenship or borders. What a crazy concept in the first place.

Why stop there. Why even have a nation state. We all know how horrible the United States of America is. Might as well just toss that out while we are at it.

This is an absolute LIE. The problem is MAGA is incapable of seeing the big picture or understand nuance. No worries, you’ll be on the receiving end of Trump’s policies soon enough

I am still curious why immigrants were not all deported in 2017-2019. No MAGA wants to answer that

The reason no MAGA wants to answer your question is because they know that Obama deported more migrants than Trump did.

So, since you are so anti immigration, why would you hire someone you suspect is illegal? What is he gonna do, sue you for discrimination? I think you are full of shit

Actually yes, there are Lawyers who specialize in exactly that. Suing employers for questioning documents. There’s even a dot gov page about it.

Aha. So the ILLEGAL immigrant will show up in court to sue you for not hiring them. Again, full of shit
