Not really. It's in our interest to see the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia diminished in the region.

Which they are.

At the present moment - and this could change very quickly - the new leadership in Syria seems fairly sane. And if the baddies like the hardcore Islamic fanatics come to power, they won't have the weapons - from chemical weapons to artillery - to be a nuisance to anyone else - thanks to Israel and Turkey.

It's all good at the moment for the US.

Its really not good for us at all if history is any indication. We "diminished" Russia in Afghanistan and got 9/11, forever wars and Patriot Act as a reward. We got rid of Sadam and Qaddafi and set the whole region on fire, many dead Americans, and swamped our European allies with destabilizing migration. Not really sure what we got in exchange for all that.

“We” got 9/11 because Israel and “our” support for genocide of the Palestinians.

We got 9/11 because certain Muslim sects are intractably antisemitic and anti American.

We got 9 11 because W refused to take heed of the former administration’s National Security warnings that ISIS was the greatest threat to the U.S. The Brits, Saudis, and many more met with W and confirmed he was making a dire mistake to declare war with Iraq. It only made Iran stronger.

But there’s more— Netanyahu knew how stupid W was and knew W wanted to avenge the assassination attempts on his daddy. Netanyhu convinced W that Iraq was the target. Dick Cheney was already a war monger.

W got to stand on a hill of 9 11 ashes, declare war on the wrong country, and soak up the halo effect. Look at me daddy!

And there’s more— Netanyhu said it was easy to manipulate U.S. presidents. He did nothing as an ally but thoughts and prayers. The collateral damage is devastating. Netanyahu and Hamas are the current war criminals. W prevented Ukraine’s NATO membership. Don’t be fooled. He voted yes and flipped to no. Russia Ukraine war is on him. His silence is deafening.

I see Turkey being as having different interests than US in Syria than Israel.
US support the Kurds and Turkey considers them enemies.

The US’s only interests are what the Israelis tell the US to do. Too bad because Turkey is a real ally and will treat the Kurds much better vs how the Israelis treat the Palestinians. Surely if we can look the other away while Israel rapes and kills Palestinians we can do the same for an important ally like Turkey?

We shall see what happens with this. Right now, it's the Assad government abandoning some high ground positions near the Golan Heights. Israel, not unreasonably in a chaotic time, took care of some high ground, tactical positioning before any other militia could take it. Seems sensible.

But if Syria gets their act together, and the Israelis are still there when Syria is all good, then it becomes a problem.

There is no strengthening the Palestinian situation regardless of anything, They made a dumbass decision siding with Iran and invading Israel and committing all those atrocities. The fall of Assad is yet another repercussion of 10/7. Palestinians have no seat at any table anymore in the Middle East. It's stupid decision after stupid decision - from 1947 onwards. The death of Sinwar, the destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah, and the fall of Assad doesn't fix it. Palestinians have no leverage over anything after their breathtakingly stupid decisions.

OMG. Israel is saving Syria by invading it and bombing civilians. Israel has made Syria an enemy like they do to everyone I the Middle East. Hamas and Hezbollah created by Israel.

I am done with Israel. It is the same as Nazi Germany. Israel is a nuclear power.

Israel doing whatever the f it wants is their only foreign policy doctrine, and its why in the history of that place, they've never had peace no matter which continent they went.

What are you suggesting about continents?

If I can translate, I believe they're saying Jews were rightfully run out of Europe and now are occupying Asia/Africa but will be exterminated there at some point, too, and won't we deserve it.

Laws are for enemies.

Honestly, at this point the frankly antisemitic focus of international law and institutions has delegitimized it and hampered its ability to be persuasive to Israel at all (and of course persuasion is the only force available to international laws). The absurd condemnation of Israel protecting its border by the UN, and meanwhile Turkey is literally taking Aleppo to the north, is just the latest example. If you want Israel to listen to you, you need to drop the antisemitism.

Interesting. So you think Israel ought to be able to invade and annex territory at will?

Israel never cared about international law so let's not pretend this rose ever bloomed.

Antisemitism and holding Israel accountable for what it does are two different things. But I understand you would greatly prefer it if the charge of antisemitism precluded any accountability for Israel's actions at all.

Israel protecting the border and destroying weapons is 100% justified. Your focus on Israel (while ignoring Turkey which is *actually* capturing Syrian territory to the north) shows exactly what underlies your reasoning

Turkey doesn't pretend to be the moralest.

Israel can protect its border from inside the border.

Why does Israel want Syria to not have air defense?

There is no “Syria” right now. It’s a failed state and Israel is destroying the weapons and ships left behind.

And yeah, I’m so sure that Turkey “not pretending” is the reason you are hyper focused on Israel. Of course the trope of Jews being duplicitous is an ancient one.

More like Israel is making sure Syria fails.

Why does Israel want Syria to have no air defense?

Israel wants Syria in the hands of jihadis because then the US wont allow Syrian government to have chemical weapons, air defense, missile defense, or any military. The US will also obviously support Israeli annexation rather than a Jihadi government. This is why Israel is supporting the rebels.

It's their plan for demilitarization, probably stealing Syrias oil, planes, jets, arms, chemical weapons to use on Palestinians. I would understand somewhat if Assad striked Israel in the past just like Saddam but hes never done that. He liked Israel and some of his fathers loyalists were upset at him for being friends with Netanyahu in the past and not doing much about Israel controlling Golan Heights.

The biggest tell that the rebels are not Syrian is the burning of Assad's father Hafez al Assad's grave. This is almost certainly the act of Mossad chaos agents. No real Syrian is going to burn the tomb of a leader they considered paramount to Syria's development.
Israel is making it so obvious they are ISIS and Al Nusra hence why the rebels are always masked.

Omg. well, I’m glad you’re expressing your dumbsh*t antisemitic conspiracy theories so at least we can see them.

The problem is Israeli right wingers are ideologues. Left wingers are pragmatists.
It's the same with Palestinian politics as well.

Netanyahu ignores the West Bank Palestinian Authority government in favor of Hamas despite Ehud Barak's warnings because he doesnt care if 10/7's happen and Israelis die, so long as no two state solution ever happens. He's willing to die on that hill of no two state solution and so is Hamas.

Netanyahu was never smart and never meant to be a leader. He rose to power because he funded Hamas and gave them weapons to bomb Israel promising to help them win and take over power from Yasser Arafat/PLO in the future, and he funded Jewish extremists and aided and abetted them. Rabin's widow still blames Netanyahu for her husband's assasination. Netanyahu has more in common with Hamas than left wing Israelis like Rabin. Hamas and Bibi had a similar vision: no two state solution ever, winner take all. The US is not Netanyahu's philosophical twin on this matter. Hamas is.

Look at how uncomfortable Netanyahu is in the clip below when Donald Trump says Palestinians are nice people who deserve a better life and theyre being used by extremists (the same ones Netanyahu funded).

Israel wouldnt even last a week without US protection or aid.

They are paper tigers and an economy of ex pats and retirees. Negative migration has happened under Netanyahu even before 10/7. Massive brain drain happening to the country. How many Jews in America want to move to Israel? The settlers get offered money to move to the West Bank which means they dont have enough free will from people to willingly move there since THEY know its not safe. Netanyahu's son is relaxing in Miami Beach while the rest of Israel's sons have to be drafted to the army. That is not fair and its not sustainable. I believe Ehud Barak is correct and Netanyahu will drive Israel to the abyss. He is a curse on the country

You don't get it.

Israel is overrunning itself by becoming unattractive.

The smartest are moving out. Inbreeding will be on the rise since that's the only group that's breeding.
