This 90 day rule does not apply for removing non-citizens, or other people who are never eligible to vote.

I think this was the argument that persuaded the justices but we will have to see once the case moves it’s way up.

As a voter you have a responsibility to follow up when you make a registration mistake. They had two weeks to do so. And can still vote regardless up until Election Day.

This was a common sense decision by scotus.

I don’t know of older conservatives self declaring as not being citizens and then failing to follow up when notified by mail about the need to clarify.

I don’t think Jeff meant that she needed the passport to prove her citizenship. I think he was saying 1) she can do same day and 2) she can prove her citizenship (as she would have done if she had gotten the letter asking her to report to the registrar within 14 days as per her previous registration attempt.

The truth is:

“Provisional Ballot Process for Voters Who Arrive Without Identification
A voter who arrives at the polling place without an acceptable form of identification or who refuses to sign an ID Confirmation Statement, will be given the opportunity to vote a provisional ballot. After completing the provisional ballot, the individual voting will be given written instructions from the election officials on how to submit a copy of his/her identification or sign and submit an ID Confirmation Statement so that his/her vote can be counted.

A voter will have until noon on the Friday following the election to deliver a copy of the identification or sign and submit an ID Confirmation Statement to the local electoral board. Voters may submit a copy of their ID of ID Confirmation Statement via fax, email, in-person submission, or through USPS or commercial delivery service. Please note that the copy of the ID or signed ID Confirmation Statement must be delivered to the electoral board by noon on the Friday following the election, or the provisional ballot cannot be counted.
