Tier One
SR, Visi, GC
Tier Two
PVI and SSAS
Tier Three
BI, Potomac, Holy Child
The rest.
I wouldn’t disagree with that breakdown…
oh and add SJC to tier 1 as they deserve to be there too.
SJC is a clear tier 2. Tier 1 isn't worried about them.
SJC beat Visi last year and lost to Stall Ridge by 1 this season.
Stall Ridge —love it!
LOL

So….congratulations to Oakton for having a solid year. I hope your recreation programs around your school continue to do well.
The discussion is about top tier DMV HS teams. Doesn’t matter if they’re public or private. Oakton has shown it can hang with SAAS.
One win doesn’t get them into this discussion. But if they put other top tier teams on their schedule next year (Visi, SR, GC, PVI, SJC) and play them competitively, they - like any other team - have a right to be a part of the conversation. How can they not?
The title of this discussion is ISL WCAC outlook and has nothing to do with zoned high schools. So they are not a part of the conversation.
Also Yorktown wasn't out there asking to be a part of the private rankings last year nor Langley before them. Rightly so because look at them this year.
So - hypothetically- if a public team goes on a run in the DMV and starts crushing WCAC and ISL teams, you’d completely disregard them as irrelevant because they’re not a private school? Or that it wouldn’t matter because it’s outside the bounds of this thread? I know you’ll say that will never happen. Just trying to understand the country club logic.

Most of the time you see 1 maybe 2 years that a public is very good, then they drop off the face of the earth until another couple years goes by or perhaps never comes by again. Oakton has a decent team this year because the talent level overall in publics has dropped tremendously. Watch what happens to a team like oakton next year, they will be absolutely horrible and lucky if they get to 500 win percentage.
I'm all for publics as well, but they just cannot hang on a consistant basis. Oaktons strength of schedule is really horrible, just take a look. Congrats to oakton for going undefeated so far and good luck to them.
Lets move on.
