Thank you for posting. I was in the UVA hospital when the survivors were brought in and my DC went there. I think UVA is doing everything it can to alleviate a horrendous situation starting with cancelling the football season and putting together today’s memorial service.
Everyone on Grounds (and in the larger community) is gutted.

This was more about “black lives matter” than gun rights. They didn’t want the backlash of “racism” if nothing turned up. Police and universities let a lot of things go and it is why crime is spiking around the country. Nobody wants to be a cop anymore.
This. Can’t offend
You think they’d have treated a white guy any differently? There are constitutional laws involved here, nothing to do with race.

No constitutional laws involved re UVA. The matter being referred to the Judicial Council was a determination if the shooter had violated campus rules about having a gun on campus and then was deceitful about it. That has nothing to do with the Constitution. And yes of course UVA and all other instate afraid of being called racist z!

As noted earlier in this thread, they cannot be liable for damages of more than $100K per plaintiff so for those of you who think this will be the end of UVA (as noted earlier in this thread) that is simply not the case. Also, check status of what happened at Tech for comparison. Any institutional weaknesses will be identified I am sure.
Also any judgment is paid out of insurance and reinsurance funds, not endowment
Not necessarily. They may be self insured or at least have a self insured retention.
Get real. Of course UVA does not self-insure!
