Have you discovered Lidl yet? Not fancy, but they have one cut of ribeye on sale right now (in Northern VA) for $4.99/lb.

All their basics--eggs, cheese, milk, free-range/grass-fed and conventional beef and chicken, many fruits and vegetables, etc.--are usually cheaper than most anywhere else. Give them a try.
People know how to shop cheaper. But it is a privilege to be able to say 'I'm going to go Lidl and Giant today, Walmart and King Soupers next week, Frys and Winco on Saturday, and then check Aldis and Trader Joes the week after' to find the one with the best price. A) A lot of people don't have the TIME to physically hop into cars to go on a treasure hunt for lower prices, B) A lot of people live 45 minutes - 1 hr drive from a SINGLE grocery store in their areas - so the prices are the prices, and C) You're assuming someone has a car and can get to more far-flung grocery shopping options in the first place.
Privilege. Which is ironic to say as the Democratic party is supposed to represent the poorest among us. I'd say being able to afford food, and no not just if you have kids, is pretty important.

These idiots live in a complete DMV bubble. They can drive to 20 grocery stores in a 20 mile radius. I mean how out of touch do you have to be to realize that giant swaths of the country do not have that luxury? Many poor people don't even have cars and only have limited options via public transport. Many people live in more suburban or rural areas where a trip can take over 30 min -1 hour each way and there are only 1, 2, or 3 stores around. People really need to get out of the DMV/coastal echo chambers.

They told us to stop whining because it was 'transient' and that the only thing increasing in prices were caviar, high end beef, and crab, lol. Imagine being so delusional and out of touch.

PP. I qualified my what I said with the following, which you chose to ignore: "I also think that, depending on where you live, you can find cheaper options if you just do a bit of research." And there's no need to drive around looking for cheaper groceries--you can find prices on line and compare before you drive out to a grocery store. Obviously someone living in a rural area or an urban food dessert r someone who doesn't have a car wouldn't have as many choices as we do here in the DC metro area.
