Biden looked like most of the stars girls this summer. A bit shaky.

BTW, how bad was Biden last night? Just thought we needed a little lax break.

Well, does anyone know if any showed up?

Be happy those players aren’t showing up as they’d all take spots away from your DD. The average Pride and Stars parents are celebrating this morning.

Other way around bro … be happy the best of Pride isn’t competing for Md teams or you’d be sweating thru your HUK shirts.

Maybe you should look a little closer at the Maryland practice fields over the past month

The 1/3 DBG may be on to something about stats but it’s for the top DMV players landing on MD teams. Worst kept secret.

I can’t make sense of this. Are top DMV players showing up at MD practices or not?

Yes

Even a DMV insider might struggle to put together a list of "top" players from the various DMV teams, so I am a bit skeptical of reports of top DMV players at MD practices. I suppose their could be some hedging of bets going on by certain players who are unsure of their standing with Capital. Over/under on a "top" player from a DMV team picking an MD team over Capital is 0.5.

While I think some of us probably believe we could actually put together a good list--I would agree that there is some hedging of bets and a few hoping to fill a niche. I would say that is the right over under for players who make Blue.

I think there and lots of very good players on the area teams, but picking the “top” ones would be difficult for me and I have watched many of these girls play for years. Capital will have to make the same assessment after a 4 hour tryout. This is why most people are so uncertain of what comes next. There are more than enough very good players to fill the top team, so some are not going to make it. Hedging bets is a good idea for pretty much everyone.

Between the multiple tryout clinics, private lessons and healthy ballers clc has a pretty good idea who the strong players are going into tryouts. The reality is they have a good idea on 70-80% of who they want on clc b.

Folks, the cycle rinses and repeats annually. Do you really believe Capital is going to pick a team based on a 3-4 hour tryout?

Capital knows most of the players who will make the Blue team long before the tryout. Maybe 4-5 spots are open for players who standout at the tryout. If you are not aware of the system and working it the odds are long.

Parents, be realistic with yourselves and your daughters about their skill level. Set proper expectations early. Sending them to a tryout with 140 players vying for 4-5 spots is tough.

I don't get this board. This person is telling you how the system works and the replies are a couple of snarky comments. This post is 100% spot on. These coaches have already done their HW on the girls that will be on the team. Of course they will miss a player that belongs from time to time, but I've been to enough tryouts to know that the selection process starts way before.

I was coming to say the same thing. His post was spot on but responses are snarky....I don't get this thread....as a non 28 parent it is quite entertaining though

His advice to parents about how to temper their kids’ expectations was unsolicited, self-evident and smarmy. He posts here often as he often starts with “Folks” and then proceeds to tell everyone what we already know. He also comes off as a dad who believes his daughter already has a spot on the Blue team and is assuming the role of team Dad. In short, he is a know it all. Maybe not a bad guy, just annoying.

I see Florida Natural in his future!

Agree it's a good and accurate post. Maybe the challenge is that there are dozens of pages on this topic going back a full year, so a lot of it is well understood.

The second aspect is that much of the prior dialogue verged into territory that was intended to troll or scare people that weren't "playing the game" or "working the room" for years in advance. It was more than a bit much. It was insiders-only, IYKYK stuff (not to be confused with IYKYK guy), that didn't provide any real information on how to position for the process and rubbed a lot of posters the wrong way. My two cents.

Plus with this much stress and stray voltage out there (for another 11 days or so), snark is easy; thinking and engagement are harder.

I just want to point out that the activity level of this thread is engaging many more parents than you may think so the response may seem snarky because you think it is one person typing but it likely is nott....not to mention that person may not have gone back to read 200 plus pages of chat to determine what was already stated.
