Most reputable privates discussed on this thread don't give athletic scholarships but a few do. Thats not why kids play lax though. Most play because its a great sport and they love it. OTOH it does help with college admission to some of the best schools in the country. But, its not about money (scholarships), its about a "weight on the admissions scale." This is been discussed a great deal at different times on DCUM. Every single Ivy League and top university on the country has at least one girl or boy from the DC metro area playing on or committed to play on its lacrosse team.
I get the admissions to college part. I was wondering about admissions to the private high schools part (which are also highly competitive). And how do the coaches even notice a kid in 8th grade, anyway?

GZ wins by a good margin over SJC today. I do think last year was a fluke. Gonzaga proved themselves this week with a win against Landon and has played a very tough non league schedule.
GP over Saint Stephens by a couple
Landon over EHS in a close contest
Bullis destroys STA

The new STA coach is doing things differently and it seems to be working. That said, half of the players never seem to see the field which is kind of sad and rather unusual at STA. Wouldn't it be better to just put those kids on JV so they at least play?
