"Our child played up every year until U14 when we held them at age. The club got around this by rostering at their age and club passing up each game. He played some games or tournaments at age dependingon who they played. I don't know if this is still allowed with the new age rule."
There you go again with your grade-colored glasses. This post doesn't even reference grade. It just talks about a player who played up and played on age at U14. For all we know they held him back on age to play with his grade more even though he was apparently better.
You contridict yourself all the time. Its hard reading what you write.
Exactly.
Imagine if grade guy worked for the state of Virginia. Oh wait he does. Commenting 24/7 on this thread. Trying to show parents how to be a loser and play on a grade down team. Your tax dollars at work.
I think you meant age guy not grade guy.

About 10 percent of kids are off grade, it isn't just a handful of August kids. Showcases will be GY.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:They will.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Showcases will be by grade.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This whole hypothetical underscores that it's talent and what happens on the field that needs to win out, not some extra rule.
I get they will see college coaches at playoffs but what about showcases - U15 goes to maybe 2 -3 showcases a year outside of playoffs. U16 goes to 3-5 showcases a year outside of playoffs.... the Aug baby who didn't start with their birth year but will start playing down will still miss out on additional showcases.
I think its a miss understanding that only starters get recruited - subs get recruited also and starters on a balanced team rotate depending on opponents (size mix matches and strategies dictate who starts when).
No they wont. If clubs dual roster Aug birthdays the end result is playing on the team with players your grade in league. But also maybe playing down Junior year at Sophmore showcases.
Theres no need to do GY showcases. With SY 95% of all players will be the correct grade at showcase games. Clubs will also gently push players to their correct grade in school team. This will address 4%. The final 1% of parents holding their kid back in school so they're the oldest can play up with players their age. If you allow playing down if parents to hold their kid back soccer will end up just like football, basketball, and lacrosse. If this happens private schools not clubs will be the pathway for college recruitment.
