Find the right fit for kid. Where they are challenged, and play with/against good competition. Find a coach that believes in him/her. Do outside training as often as possible. The rest is just silly nonsense bickering amongst parents to see who can say they are the "best" team.
Give it time. You'll eventually come to understand that I'm right.

2012s. NVA will be strong. SYC strong but GA. Arlington will be strong. Top players who would go to Union/Brave going instead to Arlington for MM. She coached that age group a few years ago at Mclean and Arlington and great reputation.
2013. Mclean, Loudon and SYC tops. SYC is GA. But with DB now at Loudon, expect consolidation at NVA in a year when they go ECNL and he will have that age group likely.
Conclusion. FVU will have challenges in the next few years.
There just ain't no way anybody is following DB anywhere. No chance.

Charlotte SA next which will likely be a loss and Arl again in the schedule.
If i am a Braves parent I'd be wondering why FVU didn't take more Braves. Maybe this team will be better in 2-3 years when new player cycle thru but next year this might be worst team in VA.
But wins and losses aren't everything, what about development? Maybe a parent from the team can say.
Thanks NVA parent whose team sits in last place out of the VA teams right now. And that’s even after Union suffered major injuries and merger drama.
Stop with the nonsense. Just focus on your own DD’s development.
Lets stop the excuses. Its not because of the injuires. I watched them play. They had 19 on the roster but just a few girls on the team (not more than 5) had the speed, agressiveness and atletism to compete at the "ELITE" level. The rest are RL players that not sure what CW was thinking selecting these players. A parent next to me said over 100 girls were at last years tryout and saw a lot of talent that were turned away due to politics including some of the Braves girls that now have FVU Offers.
Also, CW is playing everyone. At this level, you are not going to win any games with this strategy unless you have a roster of 16 and everyone is a stud. He needs to create competition in the team. If everyone plays regardless of performance, why will the girls go out and give it their all. When a team wins, they attract top talent -- Arlington, Bethesda, etc.
Unfortunately, next season will be the same as other teams will bring on new talent and FVU will be recycling the same talent pool.
Notice how the words skill and IQ were left out which are fairly important in this game but I guess that is NVA for you. Even so, I’ve seen the NVA 11’s play and they don’t possess a ton of what the PP considers elite attributes.
They are a fine U13 team who are working to develop just like everyone else but let’s not mistake them for a team that can be considered any better than the other VA teams.
Not saying its not important but when selecting players, your foundation should be those three and then you train for skill and IQ. You can't teach speed, atlethism and aggressivness. Kids are born with it. They can improve their speed by training but will never be as fast as a person that was born with it and has also been training.
WRONG!!!
speed is a skill. Nobody is born with speed .
Big bodies and aggressiveness is why USWNT is falling behind at the international stage in front of much faster and technical teams like Spain. Same goes for men too. Just ask pep guardiola. Being big and chasing the ball pushing everyone on your way is not Soccer. It is football (the other football lol).

Yes, they're having a rough few games scoring. The girls are 13, they'll continue to improve. They also beat Charlotte SA the first time around so no reason to call that a loss.
What planet are you living on. You played 4 games and not score a single goal and you are on the forum saying they had a "few rough games not scoring". They just don't have a midfield and offense (zero). These past four games have been all defending in their half. Its just a matter of time goals are going to get in. Go watch the Arlington game to see if their Goalie even touched the ball from a shot from a union player. The only time our goalie touched the ball was when are defenders passed it back.
The Charlotte team has come a long way and that game was in the fall. Not sure if they trained in the summer and now they been training for 9 months now so I would not be took quick to say Union is going to beat them because of the fall outcome.

The irony is that these are the players MV asked who he should accept onto the FVU team. I guess these top players weren’t convinced in MV’s credibility with college coaches.
Where are they going?
