OMG. Not PP and a woman with critical thinking skills here. I would never praise the Ayatollah but knowing the facts of why he’s popular among is what all thinking people should do. As much as our leaders have done to make other countries “evil” there is history and nuance that is important to grasp if we ever really want to solve problems.

Your critical thinking skills left out the part where the only reason he's so "popular" is because he will murder or imprison anyone who says he isn't popular.

The other Arab nations and Palestinians were pissed at Lebanon because that war could’ve been a decisive win if Lebanon invaded Israel from the north. You would think Israel would befriend Lebanon after this but instead they started openly discussing settling in southern Lebanon as well. That’s when Lebanon kinda let Hezbollah settle in as a deterrence against Israel taking over the land. Lebanon is smaller than the state of Connecticut. It’s super tiny. Israel taking even just the south would essentially mean lebanons not a country anymore

It’s a bit to complicated for us to understand but the Israel-Palestine conflict has become central to Muslims and jews politically. Even the Turks are getting involved. Arabs tried in the 40s until the camp David accords in 1978 when everyone kinda gave up on Palestinians. Iran comes in 1979 fresh off kicking the western shh and says f making peace with Israel. They’re still killing Palestinians so f them. Persia would love nothing more than to one up the Arabs by “freeing Palestine” and humbling the Zionists with their first defeat by a Muslim. And to be quite honest, they may have a chance. Their largest proxy is Hezbollah and they have arguably beat Israel on the ground many times in the 80s and in 2006 and as recent as last year. They have the most ground experience because of the war in Syria which took a decade plus to finally oust them out of there and that was mainly due to Ukraine bogging down Russia and hurting Assad’s financial support.

However, none of these problems are our problems. The ayatollah was even thanking American college student protests last year on twitter. These terror groups (all the iterations from AQ to Houthis) even say they love America but hate our military aid and unwavering support toward Israel so it’s literally our relationship with Israel that makes us unsafe
