You have no idea what her friends have or have not done. They probably know it's a publicity stunt. She's her own person who makes her own decisions.

So I've read through all 250+ pages of this thread and I'm still confused about the friend Meg. For a long time, all Jen spoke about was Jenny and Shonna and then all of a sudden this new person Meg is inserted as if they've all been BFF forever. What's the deal?

A couple of months ago Jen was on Glennon’s podcast and both of them laughed at and mocked the notion of Christian women not trusting their hearts due to the warning in Scripture about the heart being deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. They just thought it was hilariously sad that anyone would be swayed by this.

That is really spot-on.. The detachment is kind of worrying.

Jen is probably surrounded by folks telling her to "just have fun" with this relationship. But it seems like they have already had some kind of couples therapy already? Or do they just talk like they have? Why does it seem like this is so much work?

Gotta give them credit for this- at the end of the episode ( I managed to listen to the whole thing while cleaning my kitchen) they said, hey, if you stuck around this long, then you are our people.

But there were little things in the episode-how they disagreed on things- that really shouldn't be there in this "honeymoon" phase.

Also, didn't Jen's bestie Kristen H. inform her followers that you can't call them "dreads" anymore? It's "locs."

I wish they had answered a question about where they see this relationship in 5 years. I don't think Jen can comprehend the purpose of a relationship that doesn't result in marriage (or some version of committed, cohabitation). I don't think she'll be happy with the long distance thing forever and I don't think there's any desire from Tyler to be anything more. I'm sure Tyler has expressed as much and Jen's just lying to herself that either a) she can change him or b) she'll be totes fine staying long distance.

I wish her friends/therapist had encouraged her to keep their relationship offline and not put it out there for public consumption. It would have given her the freedom to really listen to herself and her gut when it comes to relationships without inviting everyone's opinions (the good and the bad) into her mind.

Weird dynamics in a middle aged white woman who is clearly still wrecked by the public demise of a long marriage that defined her rushing into a relationship with a gay black man of color quickly and publicly while telling us all to wait and heal and “do the work”. I can’t imagine why.
