Cute conspiracy theory. They don’t have a position on the school. Most people in great falls don’t care about the school because it doesn’t affect us directly. There are a few people who question the costs for the school, just like the school board members have done recently.

Didn't they put out a letter saying it should be a magnet school? Or was that just the Nextdoor lady?

Glad you asked, the group that put out a letter saying it should be a magnet school was a Democratic Party-aligned group not based in Great Falls.

I assume you’ll now spend significant amount of time attacking the democratically-aligned organization with the same vigor with which you attack great falls, right? Right?

Why does their political affiliation matter? I assume most people in Nova are left of center but I also don't know what that has to do with the new school.

Most people in NOVA are far left, not left of center. Very few are left of center moderates, and even fewer are Rs.

And none of them want their kids to go to school with the poor kids despite voting for people and policies that would see more of those poor kids imported.

Yup like far left, highly educated NoVA people who fight for illegal residents never live in a town where there are many undocumented residents, such as the Town of Herndon or Manassas.

The town of Herndon has many highly educated people. You Langley people really are insufferable. You have no idea how many people who could readily afford a home in your district go out of their way to avoid you.

That’s not likely a Langley post that you are responding to, but please don’t worry, we’re very happy with our neighborhood here in Great Falls. While we hold no ill-will toward anyone in a neighboring town, we love our community, and we’re happy that people who are in it are happy to be in it too.

Seems like win-win all around. We wish you the best!

Here is a response on Nextdoor from a Great Falls resident to a post about the purchase of KAA.

"what WONT they do to RUIN EXISTING SCHOOL BOUNDARIES? Get Ready people. They want to smite Great Falls /Langley pyramid."

Most of the 139 responses were civil and about process. They totally ignored the need that the purchase resolves. That there are students in extremely overcrowded schools. Nothing about how much the students in the area need a school. Only complaints that they did not advertise that they were negotiating the purchase--just like they should have announced that they were competing to purchase the school. Who does that?

People concerned about the impact that $180-200 million purchase would have on the school district and other projects in the CIP?

Is your view that because you feel your kid’s deserve the school then the cost is irrelevant?

I’m not against the school, but weighing the costs and benefits is sound stewardship of our limited resources.

LOL! Read what the woman posted.
No concerns about resolving a problem for students in another community that also use schools.

Isn't the purpose of the school system to provide education for students and for them to have facilities that support that?
You think 3000 students in a high school is a good thing?
Obviously Citizens for Great Falls do not--since they are demanding that no more kids be added to Langley after the latest adjustment of Spring Hill.
"Nice schools for me, but not for thee."

Herrity’s GOP piece claiming the western HS is not needed was ghost written by a Great Falls resident.

https://fairfaxgop.org/hundreds-of-millions-for-a-new-high-school-we-dont-need/

🤣 Herrity represents great falls?

Don’t ever change, conspiracy theorist. Don’t ever change.

Well, most of Great Falls doesn't care what any republican has to say. GF is majority Dem now.

Piece was published by the Fairfax Republicans, not the Springfield Republicans, and written by a Republican from Great Falls.

Anonymous wrote:Looking at Region 6 and region 4 comments, I noticed 2 things.

The Lewis families are (justifiably) unhappy with Rolling Valley getting rezoned from Lewis to WSHS. But other than asking for status quo at the minimum, keeping all current Lewis neighborhoods at Lewis, they are not being unreasonable or targeting neighborhoods from other pyramids.

The areas getting rezoned from the Keene Mill Island/Irving/WSHS to White Oaks/LB and the neighborhoods getting rezoned ffom White Oaks to Cherry Run are repeatedly mentioning other specific neighborhoods (Hunt Valley, Daventry, Sangster, Cardinal Square and even Orange Hunt) as neighborhoods that should be rezoned instead of them.

But if you look at a map and know the area, that Keene Mill Island is the most obvious rezoning change in the entire area.

It’s clear what’s happening. And Thru knows it. The fringe neighborhoods are making their case for anyone but them to move. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

I love living in Herndon. Diversity is our strength. We walk to local restaurants, enjoy the homecoming parade, and having the high school in a central location is a plus.
