I believe this is from the Congressional hearing in which the Member of Congress expressed his gratitude at her being able to fit them in — in between costume changes. 😎

"Caped jacket"? She's just resting her jacket on her shoulders.

+1 Again, it’s like she’s a bot programmed to always wear a coat inside or else.

F***ing weird, man.

It’s a blazer. That’s not weird.

You wear blazers draped over you like that? I've never seen someone do that in real life.

You've never casually worn your jacket/sweater/blazer over your shoulders? Seriously?

Two of these 3 photos are outdoors. It’s much weirder to be photographed with coats draped around your shoulders over and over and over at indoor photo ops.

Also they aren't regular people - they are influencers having staged photos. I've never seen this on a regular person in real life. I guess maybe I'm just not hanging out in enough influencer circles. Poor me!

NP. I’m kind of shaking my head reading about how “weird” some of you think this is. I put my jacket/sweater/blazer on my shoulders all the time. It’s just an easy way to wear it.

Wading into this for the first time. I don't think it's weird to drape a jacket on your shoulders when standing around in a room or walking from place to place. I think it's super weird to pose for a staged picture that way. I also assume that, unlike me, Melania has staff and time to change between events...so it's a little weird that she can't just dress for the likely temperature at each occasion she will be at.

Maybe she just likes the look? I think it's a great look, personally.

It's a deliberate fashion choice. Whether it's because she runs cold or not, that's what it is. When I googled I found a lot of stuff from actually 2-6 years ago basically saying it's a look that projects power and confidence, like a board chair marching into the room not bothering to wear the sleeves because she has no time or interest in mingling with the lesser folks.

OMG she has such delusions of grandeur. Just like her bloated husband.

You’re actually taking the assessment of some random poster as fact here? This explains so much.

Melania has been in the public eye for years and we all have our opinions of her. We’re just finding ways that reinforce those beliefs. So what’s your objection - Melania isn’t full of grandeur or this isn’t a power move?

Honestly, I don't think either describes her. I think she's actually a very shy person who happens to love fashion. I don't read too much into her outfits.

NP - yes, the delusions of grandeur hits home! It always looks slightly off, like she’s trying hard. Reminds me of Miranda Priestly in Devil Wears Prada

I think Melania’s coat predilection is to cover up bulletproof vests.

The coat the on the shoulder thing only works if you are still. It doesn't work if you move at all. So yes, it's weird and that person who claims to do it all the time must have very special shoulders or is very still and walks slowly.

And what's up with Noam's red hands? She's so weird looking. Far more weird than shoulder-coats.

She should just upgrade her look to real capes (high five to the “caped jacket” poster 😉)
Very Dracula Shick.

There's something about the way she does that, or maybe the silhouette of jackets she chooses, where it just looks weird and fussy. Not powerful.
