Thank you for saying this. For those of us that care about this change, what can we do about it? Is there anyone knowledgeable about what would be a productive us of time and energy.

I know each school is making some sort of decision and ours hasn't yet. I'm PRAYING that they continue to follow science like they have been and not rush this, at least until numbers go down a bit more.

It is so interesting that on today, the day of the March for Life, Catholics, who are so Pro Life here in the US, choose to NOT be truly pro life. This once again shows that American Catholics are pro life only before birth. After birth it doesn't matter. Oh and women can't have a say over their own bodies but they can over their kids later on.....

Folks complaining on DCUM does nothing. If you’re upset about the changes to mask rules for the diocesan schools, reach out vociferously to the diocese. It will do no good to go to only your principlals, go to the diocese directly. Teachers at diocesan schools if you will consider leaving because of the mask rule, tell your principal.

My kids haven’t work their masks above their nose for more than 10 seconds since June 2020 and have rarely been corrected (likely bc everyone knows masks are just for show anyway). So I don’t care — they’ll continue to “wear” their masks just to avoid all this BS and controversy and maintain eligibility for laxer quarantine rules, but it won’t matter.

it's always about flattening the curve. current status is all time high of 20,000 in hospitals with 2800 deaths today nearly 800,000 daily infections with 25 percent positivity rate. must be great to be moving on... to where?

But they aren’t really ignoring the science, are they. The science says that if you get vaccinated and still get COVID, you will get sick.

It is time to go back to normal, unfortunately we can’t because too many aren't vaccinated AND bc of omicron. Mask wearing is more so for others than yourself – almost kind of like Catholic teaching, eh?

There are many states, counties, and individual schools across the United States right now, with similar vaccination rates, with “mask optional” policies. Their numbers are not worse than others; there just is no pattern or data to show that. There is no reason to say or to think that we “can’t” do this. We can do this and it will be fine, relax.

Agree! The Arlington Diocese answers to the Republican party. That is abundantly clear.

Actually, it proved they follow any Governor. They followed a Democrat last fall, and now a republican. You can’t claim they are taking political sides.

I have no doubt the Diocese lawyers told them that the EO does not override state law. They made this choice knowing that.

The state had broad powers to issue protective health measures during a public health emergency. A Governor has zero authority to make a private Catholic school prohibit masks, none. They capitulated when they shouldn’t have. What would the Governor be able to lawfully do if Arlington Diocese kept masks in place? Nothing.
