He cares because it is likely once these files are released, the documentary evidence of who was responsible, what steps were taken, etc will be in the open. You won't need testimony, because the emails and call records will bare out the truth.

The judge just denied Trump's appeal, 11-10-21. Now his attorneys will try to get an appeals court to hear it. The documents are scheduled to be released Friday unless he gets a restraining order.
He's going to a lot of trouble if he's so innocent.

I guess I still don’t get why he cares so much. There have been several smoking guns to several different GOP felonies over the last few years and nothing happens. Is it just that he has control issues? That he is aware that even his dullard supporters might be able to stitch together the truth of the matter?

This is a really good question. He has shown himself to basically be Teflon on some pretty serious allegations in the past, so what is Trump afraid of here?

When is Congress going to begin using their powers of inherent contempt?

This ignoring of subpoenas is utter BS

To be fair we have only been told that by people who support overthrowing the government.

The desperation in Trump's filing is quite the tell though.

I’m not sure why he would act desperately at all here. He can just run out the clock as he has for most of this stuff. I think he is entirely guilty but I think the wheels of justice turn far too slowly.

No he can't run out the clock, because the National Archives is due to release the Trump WH documents on Friday, unless the Court issues a temporary injunction to stop the release.

But Judge Chutkan hasn't ruled yet on Trump's motion for an injunction and he's getting really nervous. So then Trump filed a motion for an emergency stay, but you can't stay a ruling that doesn't exist, haha. The judge has promised to rule "expeditiously" on his injunction request. As soon as issues her ruling on the injunction (which she's going to deny), Trump will go to the Court of Appeals for an emergency stay. That's where things could slow down, but we'll see. Some of these judges seem pretty alarmed by what happened on 1/6.

It was a riot of morons and that’s it. Trying to make it the second coming of Russian collusion is just transparent political idiocy.

No, the lemmings may have been morons, but it wasn't just a riot of morons.

There were political leaders who were trying to orchestrate an interruption of a Constitutionally mandated process for electing officials, in other words, trying to disrupt the Republic's institution of leadership in the process. Those leaders were enacting treason against the state.

The morons that were enlisted and brainwashed into going into the Capitol, trespassed on federal property during a Constitutionally mandated process. They had weapons, and some had the intention to capture, kidnap and interfere with Congress members in the performance of their Constitutionally mandated duties. They also had the intent to capture, kidnap and possibly assault and or kill the Vice President in the performance of his Constitutionally mandated duties. All of that includes multiple felony crimes and treason.

Yes, while the majority of the thousands who went to the mall on January 6 were just a riot of morons, there were several hundred of those who should be accused of felonies and a handful of the leadership that should be charged with treason.

I agree with you that most of the attendees were just morons, they still commit felonies. That they did so because they are brainwashed is immaterial; they need to experience real, severe consequences and probably have some reality-based counseling to understand that the fake world they believe in is… fake. They can’t be allowed to exist in their own delusions, even if the delusions are shared among millions of equally brainwashed people.

But throw the damn book at the organizers and the muscle. The Oathkeepers, the Proud Boys, the Boogaloo Bois - all of them should be in prison for a decade or two. And ramp up the punishments for the organizers. Life in prison.

Those who attended the rally on the mall did nothing illegal. They are allowed to assemble and protest. The ones who breached the cordon at the US Capitol, milled around the grounds or walked around the exterior of the building are guilty of misdemeanor trespassing. Those who broke windows, entered illegally, damaged the interior, stole items, are all guilty of felony vandalism, breaking and entering, trespassing, theft, etc. Those who entered the building carrying weapons and tools for kidnapping including, but not limited to zip ties, duct tape, ropes, handcuffs, etc are guilty of attempted kidnapping and treason since the targets were clearly federal elected officials doing their Constitutionally mandated duties.

The number who actually committed felonies (entering the building, etc) are not that high.

You forgot to mention all the people who threatened to hang Mike Pence or threatened Nancy Pelosi and the RNC/DNC bomber, but most importantly, you failed to mention all of the VIOLENCE:

* All the people who beat police officers with their bare hands, flag poles, bats, batons, pieces of scaffolding, fire extinguishers, the officers’ own shields
* Those who crushed an officer in a doorway
*Those who dragged an officer down stairs, into the crowd
* Those who attempted to gouge an officer’s eyes out
*Those who used tasers and bear spray on officers
* Those who trampled a fellow supporter to death

In the news today: Mike Pence trying to hide and suppress photos of him hiding in the basement garage of the Capitol as Trump's crazed mob was rampaging in the Capitol screaming "Hang Mike Pence"
