Do you want to check their work? Yes, they are going to have someone counting. My local Safeway has someone with a little clicker who sits at the door watching the coming and going. I haven't bothered to double-check his work though. Do you think I should? I mean, he might not be clicking right.

It might not. Northam's Chief of Staff mentioned that the DMV counties might work with DC and MD and delay some of these openings. Stay tuned.
Question on more stringent restrictions by localities. Northam – we’ve had daily, sometimes more than that, communication with localities. Asks Clark Mercer to update on that. Mercer – have heard from Northern Virginia Regional Commission, on the phone earlier with the three largest counties, the region isn’t looking as good as the rest of Virginia and we acknowledge that. We ask them to review what Phase 1 is and what it is not – it is a very measured approach. We want there to be a Phase 2 and 3, which will require progress in Phase 1. If Northern Virginia as a region wants to go slower, delay by two weeks, Gov. Northam would be open to that. Have been in touch with neighboring states, DC. But doesn’t want one county to play by one set of rules, another to play by another set of rules. We hear from every region and every jurisdiction, hundreds of calls and emails. As a region, Northern Virginia has coalesced in moving together as region – it’s important that they act as a region.

Oh please. This is the first time in history that people have been asked to completely shut down society for a virus that killed so relatively few. The idea that in the past people would have stayed shut in their houses to prevent getting what for most is a flu like disease is laughable.

Dp, but so sick of comparisons of covid deaths to 9/11 or various wars. The correct comparison is to other viruses. Why? Because even the lowly flu can kill tens of thousands in US in any given year, yet we do not run around comparing it to Iraq war deaths. So far, covid worse than flu and h1n1, order of magnitude yet to be determined.

So what might this mean for outdoor pools? Are they amusement or exercise?
Also churches...our church is not always 50% so this is good news. But will be interesting to see what the bishop says for NOVA.

unfortunately, we have hit the bad combo of people undergoing some level of discomfort for 8-9 weeks by mid May AND the start of summer. It is going to be impossible without Spain style “it’s literally illegal to leave your home u less it’s for food” lockdowns to keep Americans inside in summer. We are a selfish country and don’t withstand any level of sacrifice gracefully. Basically, it’s the worst time of year to try to keep selfish Americans inside and they’ve already given their constitutions can by now. So states are just going for it knowing nobody is going to follow it much longer anyway. It’s pathetic but as a country we will just accept a daily death toll of 1500 a day in perpetuity and it’ll fade into background noise while we have BBQs.
What hysteria. You know what this country will emerge a lot stronger than a place that annihilates its economy to save the elderly.
Come to America where we annihilate our old folk and infirm (and a small number of healthy people just for good measure) so you can do whatever you want.

My DH has take a 30% pay cut AND he took a deferment on his huge scheduled draw (money that was earned from 2019, a payment in arrears so he’s earned that money, and it is the majority of his annual pay). He’s an equity partner in big law. This is to protect the other employees so there are no lay offs but it may now not be enough.
DH's firm did the same - 25% cut and didn't get the money from 2019 (even though we still pay taxes on it). He's still working a lot, but many companies are not paying their bills.
