I heard it was the other way around. ECNL clubs losing players to Arlington and other GA clubs. The ECNL clubs in our area are not very competitive in the region and do not get the college coaches’ interest. We all know if an ECNL club is not a region top club it’s hard to get seen.

Arlington has better college placement than McLean, bryc, vda, and a Loudoun? Please stop. You are clueless.

VDA is the only club with a strong teams after the DA formation. They seem to be doing fine. Mclean and BRYC younger teams are pretty weak and there is no influx from surrounding clubs. Hell there is a steady stream of girls leaving Mclean first team to lower teams at other clubs. That should scare the sh@t out of the club. McLeans is a mess and all the surround clubs know this. Loudoun should be okay but they do not depend on other clubs likes Mclean and BRYC.

These thing change. Clubs rise and fall. The only thing that matters is your kids team and coach not the club.

Is a club evaluated by its younger teams which are developing or by its older teams with college placement records?

You either got it or you don’t. There is only so much that college placement (like admissions “consultants”) can do. And if you need that crutch, you ain’t gonna add up to much. Find the best coaching and environment and talent will find a way. It is absolutely no different than academics. Performance doesn’t lie and the people you want to find you will. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be proactive. But this obsessive focus on college placement sounds either look club front offices or parents who don’t know much about the actual sport.

I think the point is that Arlington is putting in the effort now that other clubs had in the past.

Was Arlington a top club in DA before DA fell apart?

04s and 05s Arlington girls were knocking on the FCV door for the top spot in the mid Atlantic.

LOL ... In a year or two everyone will realize that ECNL is just another CCL.

On our ex-DA boys side I think we lost three. One or two were a horrible commute and now that it’s just ECNL will go with closer club.

That said a few families told me this year is a holding year. Tryouts too hard to arrange and league quality uncertain. They will reassess teams next Spring.

I would look at their college track records before making that assertion. BRYC and McLean have phenomenal track records in college placements. And their players play in college - a sign they are well prepared. Arlington has very few college placements historically -- will be interesting to see what happens to those kids in the future. It sounds like they are trying -- just no track record.

Depending where you live you could go to BSC, but reverse high school seasons

I guess only time will time will tell but my money is on McLean to remain the player it is in youth soccer.
