For lacrosse, in Spring 2022, Prep should be better than Landon and both will be much better than STA. STA should be more competitive than in the recent past but still mid-IAC at best.

The SAT is far from the only measure of academic rigor. Prep admits kids in 9th grade. Landon admits them in 3rd grade. You have no idea what a third grader's SAT's are going to look like in six years.

Last time I saw Prep's Matriculation list, it was similar to Landon's, likely a little worse, but I am giving Prep a little benefit of the doubt on their kids who could have gone to more competitive schools but elected to go to BC, Georgetown, and Holy Cross. ND is an elite National U, so no loss there.

Yes, you are right, Landon does not have a dormitory, just local day students. Not sure what point you are trying to prove, but having a dormitory makes Prep more comparable to STA, so thanks for proving the point further. Most people would far prefer their sons to attend high school with a population of fellow students from around the world than just kids who live in the local DMV.

Your argument that Landon admits 3rd graders as a reason for why their SAT scores are lower is immediately disproven when you consider STA admits 4th graders and they have the highest average SAT scores of the three schools.

Prep's acceptance rate is not low due to its boarding program which constitutes 25% of the school. Their acceptance rate is low due to the high number of applicants for both day and boarding, but mostly day students which make up 75% of the community.

Other than that their student bodies are rather similar in regards to intelligence, academic interest, focus, and drive

The depth of great students at STA is simply greater than at Landon or Prep. Sorry, but this is incorrect. Prep is superior academically to Landon. It is closer to STA academically. Kids who can't handle STA's academics transfer to Landon, Bullis, and St. Andrews. They don't go to Prep because it is fairly equal in academic rigor.

To me, the point of HS for kids is to learn about themselves, mature into adults and learn to be intellectually curious. The goal is to get into the best University your child can get into and where he fits in. Full stop. Not sure getting B's at STA (or any of the more "rigorous academic" schools) helps if you can get A's at another school and maybe evolve in other areas. Get great grades, wherever that is...in particular w standardized scores becoming optional more and more.

Of course, be great at Lacrosse w good grades and you go to any school you want...
