I agree with you. I think Waterford used his power to buy June’s silence with seeing Hannah. Surely Aunt Lydia and Gilead wouldn’t support an unnesscary ceremony on a pregnant woman, even if it was to progress the labor along, she isn’t overdue yet. Then, because it was all hastily arranged, the other district’s Gaurdians saw the activity at the abandoned home and they don’t have to answer to an unidientied driver.
This makes sense, especially given the promo for next week’s episode.

And what’s going to happen when this baby (who probably won’t be born in the Waterford house) is just like her birth mother June.

The rape scene was by far the worst.
I also didn’t think Nick got hit, but they carried him away. And I could totally see the commander setting the whole thing up.
Finally - why the heck didn’t Nick just shoot the other eye and take Hannah and head north? They had a 3 hour window before they were do home. That could’ve gotten them pretty far into Vermont before anyone reported them missing.

Did anyone catch the strange look on Waterford’s face when interacting with this guy? At first I thought it was because he was African American but it seemed to be more about the fact they didn’t need a handmaid and had their own baby biologically. Was Waterford jealous? Annoyed? Angry?
