People are confusing unpopular opinions with opinions that aren't PC.

If you lose your job, it's easier to pull the kids from private for a while than it is to make giant mortgage payments while you look for a new job. And privates are almost always better than even the good publics in that you can find a good fit for your kid, and have much more say over their education.

I refuse to let public schools become dumping grounds for the disenfranchised. My kids go to public and they'll be absolutely fine. They have cultural capital. Meanwhile they're learning that not everyone in this world is rich and white.

It's not going to take my private-school kid 13 years to learn that not everybody in the world is rich and white. And unless your public is Title I, you have no reason to preen. You're just paying a different kind of tuition.

Ok, so where do you ladies live? I highly doubt it is southeast

I don't write thank you notes. I think it's stupid, and if I get something from you I will call you and thank you.

If you need a thank you note, then I don't need whatever it was you were going to give me.

Selma (the movie) was highly overrated.

2. A huge part of the "education problem" in America is rooted in an "attitude problem". Kids are disrespectful to teachers, believing that school should be fun/enjoyable/convenient and if something is not they treat it as optional. Too many kids lack the discipline to simply do as they're told and work hard at a given task. Parents are too eager to take their child's 'side' instead of acting like adults and supporting the teachers.

3. I don't believe in censoring my children's access to most TV/movies/music/books.

4. American society has a tendency to baby and shelter our kids too much, which I find harmful. Older kids and teens are capable of much more than mainstream society seems to believe.

5. Outward appearance and the way people present themselves is important, and it does communicate something about a person. I don't think this is shallow or something people need to get over and learn not to judge, I think it's a fact of life that people should be taught to harness and have work for them.

6. Society has become way too casual and ill-mannered over the years.

Also the rush to diagnose with learning disabilities or other special needs. Not saying those things don't exist, but it seems strange to me how quickly (and how young) people recommend trying to get such a diagnosis instead of first trying to give the kid time to mature along with attempting a change in discipline strategies to see if that has any impact before going for an expensive evaluation and a major diagnosis.

Duh. pG County

And, I have tried for years to find a way to move to Canada. I am so tired of the US - the capitalistic selfish shit, the military worship (excuse me - you volunteered!), the stupid anthem, the pledge of allegiance, and the "we are the greatest nation in the world" fiction.

Wish I would have mentioned this...agree 100%. They have my gratitude, but most of these guys did not sign up for the honor, they signed up because they didn't have any other options.

I've always thought people who enter the military are a little dim-witted.

I think that people who call young military people dim-witted are secretly picking and eating their own boogers in their car.

Are you aware the several studies have shown eating boogers boosts your immunity system. If you were trying to imply there was something wrong with it you might want to try again.....go ahead google it.

Most people in the military don't think they're heroes. They're just doing their job, and they said that. I know many soldiers, and that's the consensus. It's the general public that decides to heroicize them, because we don't know what else to do when they come back from Iraq with their legs blown off.

The ignorance of the general population about who joins, for what reasons and how diverse the military is always floors me. The military is as diverse as the nation as a whole.

We don't have legalized pot anymore because it relieves/cures so many ailments naturally that now, drug companies would loose to much money on prescription drug treatments.

The world will become a gold backed currency and the value of the dollar in the international arena will plummet. I will live to see a Great Depression.
