I am Russian too and I love the name "Alexandra", I think it's absolutely adorable. Wish I had a little girl so that I could name her "Alexandra". But I have two boys, so no luck for me

I was the poster avoiding anything above #500, so let's just say none of my kids will ever be named Isabelle or Ava.

some do, some don't. It matters to me because I wanted a name that might "fit" my kid. I went with a name that I hoped would be part of her personality.

I hate the name Hilary. Especially when spelled "creatively." I grew up with a Hilaree and I think I have her to thank for this...

I don't understand why people are personally offended. Someone could tell me to my face that they don't like my name and I'd still just be like "Okay?" And I'm a sensitive person.

Of course there are names I don't like, but when I think of them, I think of them as names that I wouldn't name my child. I would never name my child something like Parker, Hunter, Braden, Everleigh, etc, but when I meet people with those names, I don't even think about that.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I've only ever met one other person with my DD's name. Until a week into her first week at daycare. The only two female humans in the DC metro area are now classmates.

YEAH - 26 pages and no one mentioned my daughter's name! It did come up on another name post a while back, though. Oh, well, I didn't name her to make anyone other than us happy. And really - naming your child to make THEM happy? What, like you can ask them while they are on the inside "Hey, kid, what do YOU want your name to be? Kick 2 times if you like..."

My name was very common and I HATED that. I went the opposite way for my child and decided anything above #500 on the SSA list was just too popular for my liking. But I tried to find something that people wouldn't think I just made up - we still took 3 solid names with us to the hospital. I realize it could burn me somewhere down the road and my kid will be upset that she can't find her name on novelty items, but we picked a name we hoped would "fit" her.

I don't do family names - it is a lovely tradition, but it isn't one I follow. And I also don't believe everyone who has named their child a top 10 name is doing it because it has some special significance.

I have an intense dislike for the name Molly. No good reason, just REALLY don't like it. I even have a cousin with this name - love her, hate her name.

Oh, and just because I dislike a name doesn't mean I'm judging people - we all have our reasons for why certain names were on our lists and why they aren't. I'm not going to walk up to someone and say "Your kid's name sucks!"

I agree. My best friend's daughter has a name that I absolutely loath but I would never tell her that, and I still love her kid
