MV also had the confidence/swagger and energy. McD didn’t. You never felt they could pull it off.

They seemed to pull up on most of their 8m opportunities.

MV goalie has another year.

She wasn’t forced to do much this game. The shots that came at her were weak because of the strong defense (or maybe it was a weak McD offense?). Unsure how many seniors on the D that started yesterday.

I have a younger public school daughter. We went to watch the game. Maryvale definitely just had the talent this year. Maybe also the coaching. Goals in McD seemed through really hard individual effort as opposed to a well oiled offense. MV had an offense that was moving and freeing up girls in great positions. They also had the ability to lose the defense through talent and athletic ability. McD was also smaller it seemed.

Big question is can they three peat? Will some kids move on with new coach? Ton of talent on the bench there.

Odds would be much better if coach was staying. Plenty of talented teams underperform with the wrong coach.

Mcdonogh had that 10 year undefeated streak but became significantly more beatable with a coaching change.

I was off a bit with 10-5 but MV controlled entire game.

Look at the rosters of those teams. Filled with current college stars who were amazing in HS. The competition across the league was much better in those years. You clearly are a MVP parent who can’t fathom that your daughter’s team isn’t the bestest ever.

Not a MVP parent.

You comparing rosters? That’s your measuring stick? The top player on MV is a 2028.

You are 100% a MV parent

And his daughter rides the pine or didn’t even make Varsity. 100%

Again my kid not on MV but it’s comical you have this idea that my kid is on MV and rides the pine.

MV dominated this season, they are the best HS team I saw live. You don’t have to agree, but give the credit where it’s due.

10-5 Maryvale is the champions.

9-5 Maryvale with 3:29 left.

McDonogh just can’t stop Maryvale offense or break their defense.

They could lay an egg tonight too, who knows.

That’s why they play the game. I think it’s gotten better recently, but what’s the o/u on flops leading to cards or 8meters tonight?

Maryvale hasn’t played a top 20 team, right? They played Spalding but Spalding has dropped like lead down the rankings. When they played McDonogh, they were ranked maybe 25th? Now they’ve clawed up some but still….

Hard to make such big claims on that schedule, honestly. They should be crushing those teams. Clearly they are very good and probably will be way too much for McDonogh to handle tonight. We’ll see.

You are clearly convinced this MVP team is a once in a decade team and nothing is going to convince you otherwise.

Being rated number one by two subjective magazines is one criteria. Beating everyone by multiple goals is another. But not strength of the teams played.

2025 St Anthony’s was ranked #1 while going undefeated and the closest game was by 6.

2025 EA was ranked second but also undefeated and the closest game was by 3.

2024 St A was ranked #1 went undefeated and they had a one goal win over Darien.

2023 Darien ranked #1 went undefeated and had 4 one goal games with SPSG, Sacred Heart, New Canaan, and Wilton. All top 20 teams.

That doesn’t count the teams that lost 1 game early to other top teams, played a challenging schedule but ended up not being ranked by these two magazines.

If MVP had other top 20 teams besides McD this year, I’d agree. They probably are one of the best teams this decade but about 10 teams could argue that also.

Darien also only be Sacred Heart by 1 that same season, so two 1 goal wins. A bunch more by 5-6.

It’s a fair argument though. I can see the case for Darien best team in decade but Maryvale 1000% in same conversation, despite not having a terwarton award winner on its roster lol
