^^ Math scores. ELA is higher. Fewer kids at Walls take CAPE Math than ELA because once they've passed geometry, they don't take it, or something like that.

2/3 of Walls kids scored a 4 or 5 on CAPE on 2023-2024 scores. So 1/3 scored a 3 or below, with 3 being below grade level.

It's the highest in DCPS and probably higher than all the charter schools except Basis. (I'm not going to dig up the data.)

If you only look at the high performing kids at any school it looks amazing. I have a kid at DCI and think its ok. Kids spend too much time on screens and the classroom management is pretty bad in a lot of classes. DCPS teachers are better trained (and better paid) so I don't think DCI will ever be comprable to Walls or Banneker.

DCI is as good of a middle school you're gonna get outside of Deal and as good of a high school you're gonna get outside of J-R and Walls and maybe -- maybe -- Banneker. But let's be honest: none is all that great. Walls is probably closest to great, although there are plenty of high schools in the suburbs of the DMV that are as good or better. J-R and DCI are, at best, average compared to anything offered in Arlington, Fairfax, Montgomery etc. And J-R is really no better than Alexandria City High School either.
