Godspeed.

It is not clear to me what the Rs that voted against it want. It might not be clear to them either. Unless they pass something tomorrow, Christmas is going to suck for a lot of people.

Johnson could bring the bill negotiated with the senate to the house floor and it would pass.

Why talk to the Senate at all.

All spending originates in the House. If the Senate doesn't like it, let it go down in flames.

Why are R's not supporting this stripped down bill? I don't understand--what do they want? a two sentence straight extension? or they just want the govt closed until 1/20, so nothing will satisfy them?

This is what Elon was advocating yesterday.

How could any serious person advocate shutting down the USG until 1/20? That is going to wreck the economy and hurt a lot of ordinary people in and out of government.

I guess when you're a billionaire, you don't care about wrecking the economy because you have enough money to ride it out and survive and maybe even pick up some companies at a lower price?

But, seriously, who does he think is going to buy Teslas when we the economy collapses?

How is that going to wreck the economy?

You realize there were eight shutdowns in Reagan's term. Yet here we are.

Is the sky still falling?

Use your google machine and take a look at how much more the shutdowns cost as compared to keeping the government funded and operational.

Rather than even read it jeffries said no because of trump. more T D S!

Jeffries already negotiated a bill. Elon scuttled it, so it is up to Elon and the GOP to pass something else. What was in this bill that would garner Dems support?

You mean President Musk!

This is so sad. Mike Johnson is outta here. Spineless jellyfish that trump hates now. He better look for a new position.

I don't think Elon is a bureaucrat. He's the antithesis is of one.

Is the goal to just pass something, anything? Or is it to fund the government? Hmm.

It's not going to wreck the economy. Might dent it a little bit.

It's going to wreck the transition and inauguration. Literally harming themselves.

The unneeded (at this time) expansion of the debt ceiling should have made it a no go for all. Take that out, get rid of concessions designed specifically with Musk, and it would probably be a go. Or…they could just go back to the one they had already negotiated.
