Why do people care so much about other kids reclassing. I don’t think it was a wise decision but not one that affects me or anyone else.

I am a swimmer..
I’m really sad about Coach Phil leaving. As an athlete, coaches become a huge part of your life because you spend so many hours with them every week. Coach Phil believed in athletes, cared about the team culture, and made swimmers feel valued.
We may not know all the reasons behind decisions, but athletes know when a coach cares, supports them, and creates an environment where they want to work hard and improve. That matters.
I’m grateful for everything Coach Phil has done for me and so many swimmers. His impact goes way beyond swimming times. He helped build confidence, motivation, and a team culture people cared about.
Thank you, Coach Phil.

Phil was an amazing coach who deeply cared about the improvement of his swimmers, but also took time to make swimming a sport that we can actually enjoy with fun sets once in a while. Sometimes, the environment of NCAP feels like a lot of pressure because they expect us to be so-called “Olympians” in the future. To add on, I’ve heard that Bruce is extremely hard on his swimmers and got two severely injured, which makes me genuinely scared for his group. There are name amazing swimmers at my school who aren’t on NCAP, and they say their practices aren’t super difficult. Can anyone else share their experience with NCAP? It would be very helpful. Thanks!

My swimmer is a teen at another site. The experience they have had has been very positive, and they have been with the club since they were 9. The rumors about Bruce’s training methods have made their way to other sites, my swimmer has said before that they are so glad they are not at GP because they are not a distance freestyler and would have worried they would end up injured. They know of the 2 swimmers that were unable to compete this year due to injury, and right or wrong, the perception is that is due to overtraining. My swimmer has also made reference to people being body shamed in that group. The Gold 1 group at GP is not for everyone and it’s ok to come to the conclusion that you would be better served elsewhere, as a swimmer and as a person.

Is Phil surly joining ASA? My kid tried out for Phil's Bronze group a couple of years ago. Back then I had zero knowledge of swimming. now hindsight that his analysis of my swimmer was spot on. Although we didn't eventually join Ncap, he was very nice and chill to offer advice.

Hearing from a swimmer about Phil is really important- way more than from parents.

Having a swimmer’s POV on here is by far the best thing i have seen recently. But I am sure that someone will find something to complain about with this too.
