Why does Vance wear eyeliner? Who is he trying to appeal to with that?

All politicians (and really anyone on the television screen) wears makeup. It's just that Vance wears it *badly.*

+1 I'm in my mid-40s and my parents/in-laws are in their late 70s and we all agree that Vance and Trump are weird, and that the cult-like devotion of their followers (taping maxi pads to their ears?) is also weird.

Remember that most of Gen X spent our critical early years in the Free to Be You and Me era, and that today's Boomers are the ones who raised us. They thought it was great that Sesame Street taught us about racial integration, public transportation, and breastfeeding on-screen. They gave us gender neutral toys and dressed us in matching corduroy overalls with our brothers.

They are also from the generation where women died from lack of access to reproductive healthcare and couldn't get checkbooks until they were in their 20s without their dad or husband to sign off.

They don't want to go back, and neither do we.

I mean Trump has made it his modus operandi to call his opponents losers, low IQ, dumb as a rock, and other insulting things. And his followers accept that without objection. In fact they seem to enjoy it. So what’s the big deal about Dems using one word, weird, which isn’t half as crude as what Trump says?
